Purchase 4.05

If I purchase a new Hoster Lite 4.05, can i use an earlier hoster version using the 4.05 code? Using XP with all upgrades. Currently running Hoster 3.21

Yes and no....

Hoster 4.05 includes Hoster 3.40, which is identical code to 3.321a, but compiled to run with the Hoster 4 RegCode.

Now, there is a problem with 4.05 that on fast songs the highlighting can get out of sync on Vista with a dual display. We found and fixed the problem and are testing this weekend. We have 3 other problems we want to fix in 4.06 also, so it will probably be end or next week, or the following Monday before we can release it... if all goes well.

I'd wait for 4.06...

What Upgrades are Needed to Move from Hoster 3.303 to Hoster 4.05 ?

I need to know which components need to be updated or purchased to enable my Karaoke shows to be current with CD titles ?

if your running vista there some critical requirements/changes that you have to do in order to run 4.xxx version of hoster right ( see adm. post on these changes ) in xp you have to install all the windows recommended (not so much on recommended ) but make sure you install the custom updates, except for netframe 3.5 (for this might crashed your computer/laptop ) like other people had experienced, update your video card, and you must have ie7 and wmp11, and i think sp3 (xp ) sp1 ( vista ) but i think you have to follow "a" instructions on how to install these ( sp1 or sp3 ) updates properly..

Hey Billy,
I would like to take this oppotunity to explain what happened with me and netframework 3.5 for I am the person who had Hoster crash using XP after an install of netframework SP1 (boy I messed up).

See it was late and I was trying to help someone on the forum who told me they were using netframework 3.5. Well I did a search on the Microsoft update page and it sent me to netframework 3.5 SP1. I did not notice this and installed it anway.

In my opinion since I did not have netframework 3.5 installed, the Service Pack One should not have installed, WRONG, it did!

MTU looked into netframework 3.5 and found no problems with using it. I'm having great success with netframework 3 and see no reason to upgrade yet. This is my personal opinion.

Jim

MTU recommends wmp9 for XP and wmp11 for vista, wmp11 may cause problems for some users.

Billy,
I caused the whole mess by intalling 3.5 SP1 without having 3.5 installed first.

Windows update is delivering 3.0. When it delivers 3.5 I will install it.

Sorry for the confusion Bill, thanks as always.

Billy,
Lots of people are running wmp11 on XP without any problems. But the Hoster Manual recommends wmp9 for XP and wmp11 for vista.
Like I said lots of people don't have a problem with wmp11, but I did. I guess the rule is if you have no problems, stay with what works for you.

Actually, the Manual says "WMP9 or Higher" on XP. You can use which ever one works best on your computer.

I'm in the Ft.Myers area but only working part-time right now in Veterans' and other clubs and singing for a lot of dinner dances for the over 80 crowd, as well as private parties - no steady karaoke gigs right now. I am considering a steady Friday at a new restaurant in East Ft.Myers. (I used to sing & do Karaoke 5 nights a week (7 during the holidays) for almost 10 years in Pasco County before we moved here after my husband retired.)
I think we should be doing this in private e-mails.

As I said, some people have no problems with XP and wmp11. I had lots, when I reported the problem to MTU support the first thing they had me do was to remove wmp11 and go back to 9. This got rid of ninty percent of the problems I had. IF I were starting an new XP 4.xx load from scratch, wmp9 would be the a better bet then 11. Just my opinion.
