I've got McAfee running, not had any problems, I changed to it because what I had before was causing problems.
I haven't done this but you can try turning real time scanning off while at your show. Click the real time scanning, then real time scanning settings, then the turn Off button then select either "when I restart or never," if you choose the later don't forget to turn it on again after your show.
