Cause I'm leaning towards error in the software, not something I did, but I could be wrong
I am still not convince it is a software problem.
I take it that since you didn't say anything about checking the database file with Access that you do not have it. I am going to send you a private message with my email address. I have Access and would like to check the database file.
I'm sorry, I didn't see that you replied inline IN my posting.

Yes, I'll be picking up the files tonight before their show begins. I'll get the SONGS.DB file and the ZIP file for each of you to test and review. I do have Access on my PC, so I should be able to review it as well.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I've forwarded the files as requested and noticed one thing: Hoster said that it imported 25500 "new files" but when I open the database file, I only see 247xx files. There are about 700 files missing.

One of the missing files has been sent to Roy, but he is able to import the file.

I've already deleted all the KMH files and tried reimporting the files, but they still are missing.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Here's an update.

I've brought the PC home to work on over the night (no shows on Saturday). I've taken and tried to reduce the number of sub-folders to eliminate any issues with file names.

Roy point out something that I don't know how to work around. On some of the files, when I click on the properties, it shows that the files are NOT read only, but some of the files have an extra button due to the fact that "this file came from another computer" or something like that. And the button is to correct that issue.

Some of the files that are on this computer came from download websites. These are legit files, but some of them have this indication that they are from other computers. Is there a way to correct ALL the files with this indication in one swoop?

Also, although Hoster indicates that it has imported 25,500 new tracks, when we look at the database, there are 700 FEWER tracks listed. There's something rotten in Denmark with regards to that.

I've cleaned up as many of the files as I can and have an accurate count of 25,736 total files. When I clicked to index the HDD it said that I was about to import 25,736 files. Now I know I will have to go back and adjust the import settings for some of the files that have odd names, like CBE437-01-01 where the manufacturer has a disk number and a series of that disk number and then the tracks. After I'm done with that, I'm hoping to have 25,736 NEW files imported. If that is so, I will check the database to see how many is there, if it is less, I'll report that and then we've got a different issue.

If there's anything else I should be doing, now is the time to let me know while I have the PC in my possession.

Thanks again.

These may have DRM included then, meaning they may not import to be played in Hoster. I have run into that when importing audio files through Windows Media Player.

I have to disagree with your statement. You may think they are legal because they paid for them, however if the site does not have a license to sell them from the original producer then they are not legal. And those sites will note tell you that they have a license, because most are not legal. Some of the producers have downloads available from themselves or through another company that they have sold those rights to.

This goes with what I answered in the first quote.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Is there a way to "BLANKET" correct the DRM? I thought DRM was associated with audio files, especially wma and wav files, but not associated with mp3.

Karaokeversion.com produces their own tracks with their own words on the screen... as far as karaokedownloads.com, I don't know.

So, I come back to these files. Here is what the file says when I click on Properties:

Attributes: Read Only (unchecked) Hidden (unchecked) [Advanced]
Security: This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer [Unblock]

There are a LOT of these files and I tried to select a large group of them, however when I click on the properties, the "security" issue doesn't show up, thereby I don't have a way to universally unblock these assuming this is an issue. I will verify this as the software finishes importing tracks. Right now I'm up to about 6000 of the total (it's a slow process!).

But I'd like to be exploring options in the interim. And for the record, the file that I sent to Roy, did not have this security block on it!

Sorry about that. I must have hit the Edit button instead of the quote button.
