Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search
My situation is a little different than the other post on a similar issue.
My installation, I'm the consultant adding Hoster to an already running karaoke system. Computer is running Windows 7 64 bit, and has 2 Gig of Ram and 2.37 Ghz Processor. Hoster runs FINE on this system except when attempting to play Videos on the Secondary monitor. The problem is, I've imported 25,500 Zip files using the KMH import tool and when I go to search for certain songs, some are missing. When I look in the folder where the song is located, there's a KMH file for the song and the "IMPORTED TXT" file says that it was imported. I've made all ZIP file "NOT" read only and I've imported the files TWICE. The second time I went through and deleted all the KMH and IMPORTED.TXT files. In both situations, songs that appear to have been imported are NOT showing up in the search. I'm waiting to go live with Hoster because of this and they are using their old program which crashes a lot. Please advise. |

The zip file is in the same folder as the KMH, I essentially just installed on a PC running a show with another piece of software and showed hoster where the folder of karaoke music (and subfolders) was. Can you load one of the files that doesn't show in the search by browsing to it via the k-oke button and see if it plays alright that way just to test the file.[/quote] The File Plays fine. Thanks for the reply |
Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search
Try this: Make a note of the folder that a particular missing file is in. Go to Tools/Songs Database then select build database button, on the karaoke choices select "Zip" in the bottom left window select the folder that contains your missing zip file and highlight it, you should see a list of the files in that folder in the right hand panel. Press the Rescan button.
Then see if that particular file now appears in the search dialog. If it does then rescan the rest of the folders containing your zip files. If not then I will have to have a rethink :?:f |
Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search
Just had another thought, when you are searching have you got both Title and Artist highlighted in the search type. I ask this because if you are searching by Title with only Title highlighted and you have the fields reversed in the import then it won't find that title, same if you only have Artist selected and some of the files are in the wrong field order.

At first I thought I had made a mistake because I selected "Build Database" and let the program get through 3000 songs before I cancelled it. Then I went in and selected "Index HD Files" and selecting the proper format for importing. The resulting import and attempts yielded 3000 extra songs, so I rebuilt the database and that came up with a more correct number of 25500. Even after rebuilding the database, the song didn't show up, but the KMH file shows and the imported.txt file says that it was imported. |

I even selected to search the DISC ID and several other searches, but basically the Title and Artist are always selected. Still only yields some of the songs and some are missing. Doesn't matter the manufacturer. |

Do any of these missing files show in the Edit dialog ? |

Also in the edit utility try doing a search with the "*" which will list all of the song files , then sort by title and if that doesn't show all versions together then the titles are not the same on all of them. Some companies use the title in normal sentence format as in the word "A" or "The" at the front of the title and some put those as the last word with a comma. Also you will find that some use the artist name with Last name first and others put first name first. These can all cause search problems. |

The "x" in the above are because my memory wanes and I don't remember the disc it is on, but I added it so I know the file format is correct. The "Mel" version is downloaded from "karaokeversions.com" and is a custom ZIP file and it was downloaded AS a zip although we added the disc number with "Mel" to identify it for the old software and Hoster. I search under "teenager" two are missing (but imported), I search under "glee," one is missing (but imported). I search under "teenager in love" and three versions show up including one that says "unknown disc" in the disc ID. I have a thought, and I hope I'm wrong. I did an install for another company back about a year and a half ago, Hoster was the program and I bought it under my credentials for the business (I have 4 copies registered under my account). Back then I worried that if the files inside the zip were not the same title as the zip file, does this make a difference. For example, when the new POP HITS MONTHLY come out, the software that I use to "NAME" the files isn't updated yet, so the file are originally just labeled PHM0211-01.zip. The mp3 is labeled PHM0211-01 and the cdg is labeled PHM0211-01.cdg inside the zip folder. Later, these files are manipulated to become PHM0211-01 - Song Title - Song Artist.zip and everything is kosher except the files inside don't get these labels changed. Could files like this be the problem? They were NOT a problem in the past under version 4, but I'm just throwing this against the wall to see what sticks. At this point, if I can't get the songs to be included in the scan, then they can't use the software... I know a solution is out there save me having to rename every file inside a properly labeled ZIP file. Yes? Thanks for you post. |

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search
Do a search using the star "*" which will list all song files then sort by title (click on the Title bar at top) and scroll down the list till you find teenager. Are all the versions listed together and are all the titles exactly the same including punctuation and spacing?

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search
It COULD be a possiblity they had the same bookid and when you rebuild, it's not importing. Do you get any kind of message at the end of the rebuild stating there were duplicate bookid numbers?

This is printed in the manual don't know if it could have any bearing on your problem regarding any files imported via the build database option: NEW Opens MP3 and WMA Headers - When these selected file types are indexed, their headers are opened to obtain Title, Artist and other fields. If the header Title field is blank, the filename is added into the Title field. You can index selected Karaoke (MP3+G, ZIP, WMA+G), Audio (MP3, WMA) and Video (13 types) files at the same time. To preserve BookIDs in existing KMA and KMH files they are indexed in a first pass, then all other file types are indexed and assigned new BookIDs in a second pass. I'm not sure if this only applies to MP3 & WMA audio only files, if it also applies to zip karaoke files. it could be the header info inside the mp3 file name being different. What I am |

to "loved a woman- Adams, Bryan" The names inside the ZIP were still the complete name. After importing into Hoster it stores the name as the Zip name the edited shorter one. Therefore as long as the zip is correctly named the files inside the zip don't have to as long as they are both named identicle except for the extension. In my example if I searched for "Have you" it would not have found it. |

So far nothing. No, I get no error message when importing songs. I'm just missing certain songs, and sorry but the song title was Teenage Dream, my bad was going from memory for anyone that was counting. I don't know what to do at this point. The hosts are running the system with the other software and I haven't got a solution except to tell them, some songs won't be in the search. I'll try the * search and see if it is there, but I'll need to do that in the AM when nobody is operating the system, I can't really validate going there for just one possible check, especially since I know the song isn't showing up via two other types of searches, i.e. "teenage" and "teenage dream" |

As to the "*," the search revealed that the file in question "Mel06-0x - Teenage Dream - Glee.zip" is not there. As to the "rescan," the folder is listed as one of the folders scanned, when rescanning, it finds "0" new files but there is a KMH file already listed in the right hand side as having been previously scanned. The "*" did show one additional "TEENAGE DREAM" file, but it was just a different chartbuster version that was NOT listed previously. So by using the "*" I found one additional file. Here is something to chew on: Some of the files that do NOT conform to a manufacturers coding (that is to say not an SC, CB, or PHM but a CUSTOM LABEL) don't show up. I'm hoping we can resolve this as I don't think MTU is too big on issuing refunds! LOL Thanks again. |

Also look for ImportErrorLog.txt in the C:\MTU\Hoster folder. If you have Microsoft Access then you can open the Songs.mdb file in it and see the whole database file. This would show you how many records are in it and you can sort it by several fields to group the songs so you can check if everything is there. I don't know why all of this is happening, but there has to be something that has prevent the search from finding all the songs by each title. Either the missing ones didn't import due to an error in the file or something is incorrect in the titles that are not allowing a file to be listed with the rest of the same songs. |
