I don't know what to do at this point. The hosts are running the system with the other software and I haven't got a solution except to tell them, some songs won't be in the search.

I'll try the * search and see if it is there, but I'll need to do that in the AM when nobody is operating the system, I can't really validate going there for just one possible check, especially since I know the song isn't showing up via two other types of searches, i.e. "teenage" and "teenage dream"
By using the * search it will list all of the imported files. It has to be something about the spacing, punctuation or just mispelling. All the files imported so all of them should show in the search. If they are not showing then there is something different in the text. The * search will show them all and you can find the text difference.

I have done as everyone has asked and here is my report:

As to the "*," the search revealed that the file in question "Mel06-0x - Teenage Dream - Glee.zip" is not there.

As to the "rescan," the folder is listed as one of the folders scanned, when rescanning, it finds "0" new files but there is a KMH file already listed in the right hand side as having been previously scanned.

The "*" did show one additional "TEENAGE DREAM" file, but it was just a different chartbuster version that was NOT listed previously. So by using the "*" I found one additional file.

Here is something to chew on: Some of the files that do NOT conform to a manufacturers coding (that is to say not an SC, CB, or PHM but a CUSTOM LABEL) don't show up.

I'm hoping we can resolve this as I don't think MTU is too big on issuing refunds! LOL

Thanks again.

My question is what was different about the additional Chartbuster file information that makes it not show up when searching by the title? Something has to be different in that title that keeps it from showing up.
Also look for ImportErrorLog.txt in the C:\MTU\Hoster folder.
If you have Microsoft Access then you can open the Songs.mdb file in it and see the whole database file. This would show you how many records are in it and you can sort it by several fields to group the songs so you can check if everything is there.
I don't know why all of this is happening, but there has to be something that has prevent the search from finding all the songs by each title. Either the missing ones didn't import due to an error in the file or something is incorrect in the titles that are not allowing a file to be listed with the rest of the same songs.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Are we assuming that I made and error twice or are we thinking this is a glitch in the software?

Cause I'm leaning towards error in the software, not something I did, but I could be wrong
I am still not convince it is a software problem.
I take it that since you didn't say anything about checking the database file with Access that you do not have it. I am going to send you a private message with my email address. I have Access and would like to check the database file.

There is no indexerror.log or any other error type file that I can see.

Yes, I'll be picking up the files tonight before their show begins. I'll get the SONGS.DB file and the ZIP file for each of you to test and review. I do have Access on my PC, so I should be able to review it as well.

Sorry about that. I must have hit the Edit button instead of the quote button.

Cool Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I have not read pages 2 & 3 of this thread, but I thought I would pass along something that stumped me. I would import, say, 13 MP3G pieces, and only 9 would show up in a search, yet they existed in the database. I fixed it by doing this:

I downloaded a free MP3 Tag editor called Mp3Tag. I unzipped any MP3-CDG zip files, and opened the MP3s. I found that on the problem files, Hoster would use the Title tag in building its KMH cross reference, and that would also show up in the resulting database. Because the title is what Hoster searches for, it never found these files. Typically this happened when there was SOMETHING in the mp3 tag title like this: TRACK 5 or like this: tSinger.

With an MP3 tag editor, you can type in the real name and artist, and it will then show up in searches after you rebuild your database. (Pretty easy for 100 files, but obviously this will get tedious if you have to fix 3000 of them. Whatcha gonna do, hey?) I suggest you kill the associated kmh files, just to be sure Hoster doesn't ignore it, thinking it was already correct.

This did not seem to occur when the files had no mp3 tag Title at all. So you may be having the same problem. I was surprised to see that about 20 percent of my existing library had problems like this.

It's easy to check if you get an mp3 tag editor, or simply turn on the "Title" field in Windows explorer. I strongly suspect you will see discrepancies in the mp3 title field. I also suspect this is the result of files having a "questionable history" of legality. I purchase most new music from apparently legitimate websites, but many of the files I get have this peculiar problem.
