(Virtual Memory Setting) Need Some Help
In system properties under virtual memory setting the system won't let me allocate more then Initial MB 4096 and Maximum MB 4096, when the Recommended amount is 4605 MB., when I press the set button a message pops up telling me that 4096 is the max.
I have 99 Gigs available on Drv C:\ Why is this happening and what can I do to change it. Appreciate some help with this. Thank you Joey.... |

The question is what Service Pack are you using? If you aren't using SP3 then your maximum is 4096. I just tried mine and set it above 4096 without a problem. In fact Joe considering all the things you are reporting, how about doing a System Information run and copying and pasting the summary page here in a post. This would make it a lot easier to figure some of this.

Sorry Dale about the large attachment I have another software that may be better at getting the information you need.
Thanks Joe... |

Actually no that doesn't tell me as much as the built-in System Info does. SI shows all the hardware information along with the information yours shows.
Go to Start Menu/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Information and run it. The first tab is the Summary. Copy the text in that box and paste it in here.

"Page File Space 5.83 GB"
Looks like you have plenty of space set already. If you are looking at this as a cure for import problem, this definately would not be it. Actually this just adds to the load, because the transfer between actual and virtual memory causes more workload for the processor. Some have even found that things speeded up by going back to letting Windows determine the amount of virtual memory. More is not necessarily better.

Wow Letting Window Manage was going to be my next logical move, but the part that my system doesn't allow me to increase above 4096., what's that all about? Joe... |

I don't know Joe because mine didn't have any problem with going above 4096.
