OK, I even rebuilt the database & followed everyone's advice and changed ALL security settings. I've done everything that will allow all HIDDEN FILES to be shown. I even did another search of the entire C: drive; the file simply does not exist anywhere. I don't know what else to do.
Think I need ADMIN to step in on this one! |

Changing Vista Security solves problems
![]() ![]() I did a search of HELP for another problem that suggested turning off security in the User Accounts. I fully expected then to have to start over to make everything work. To my AMAZEMENT, after changng User Accounts I simply restarted Vista. Then when I clicked on Hoster to simply open the program, it immediately starting Re-building the database. Having already done that yesterday & all songs played fine, I couldn't imagine why it was doing that. When it finished, Hoster finished opening up like normal. I couldn't see any difference, so I turned it off and looked in the ....\programfiles\Hoster "folder" and LO AND BEHOLD, there were ALL the missing files that were not there before, including the "BuildSongsDBLog,txt" that did not exist before. I copied a .HST file from my old laptop and was also DELIGHTED that Hoster had no trouble finding the song to play from the Playlist that was created on my old laptop. THANK YOU MTU & EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP! |

This is what I was trying to tell you. Those files were there all along but Vista was hiding them. Even if you log in with administrator privileges Vista doesn't allow full rights. Turning the UNC security off is one way of "fixing" it. The other is to change the security settings for the folder (and files within) to allow Hoster or your account to work as administrator in that folder. The second is the most secure and the first is the easiest.

I posted earlier that I had already followed your instructions and changed the security settings in each folder, but nothing changed, until I turned off UAC. I don't believe Vista finished the first time, otherwise why did it re-build the database again, all by itself, just by turning on Hoster! Anyway, it's working now!
Thanks for your help. |
