i'm not sure..but you can try ..going to your control panel click on sound, speech and audio devices..then click on sound and audio devices see if the mute box is checked..if it is unchecked it, if not click on audio on top, right next to sound on the sound playback click on volume see if any of the mute boxes are checked if it is unchecked it, if not click on the down arrow and see if your soundcard is listed if its listed just clicked on it..maybe that will work..

Try plugging your speakers into the internal sound card and see if the sound is there. If it is then you may need to go to the BIOS and disable it.

If you go to the same spot billyo suggested you can also check to see if the card you want is the default or change defaults to experiment with.

no audio

I called Hp tech support but no luck so far - i'm still tring. I can't even get the computers sound card working.

When I'm using my external sound card I have no sound out of hoster. How do I tell hoster what sound card to use if possible?

Help!

Hoster uses the default soundcard. If you want to change the card Hoster uses (assuming XP) you'll need to go into control panel select audio/sounds, click the audio tab. Under "sound playback" use the drop down box to select your preferred sound card and then click apply. If you selected an external card it (and Hoster) should from here on in default to that card whenever you boot up with it connected. If you boot up without it the computer (and Hoster) will use whatever other card is available.

After you select the new card be sure and click the volume button under the drop down box (not the tab on the top left) on that same screen to make sure all the slider levels are where you want them (and that anything important is not muted). Each card will have their own set of settings.

Hoster 3.316

On The phone again last night with HP and I got Sound Coming Out to my external sound card.. I had to - for whatever reason - install updates and reinstall soundmax driver. Why It worked - I haven't a clue.

Once I updated and reinstalled the drivers - M-audio appeared as one of my output options finally!! YEAH - thanks alot for your help guys.

Michael
