thank you for the help...i installed the upgrade but still no audio everything else seems to work fine..any ideas?

By everything else, do you mean you get audio with Media Player or other programs?
Have you checked your sound card settings? Is anything (output wise) muted or turned way down?
Also check Microsoft for any updates. Use the custom update button instead of the express. Express update only gets those updates deemed as critical by Microsoft.

thanks for replying everything else works, window sounds cd,s windows media etc.all works fine except for hoster. There is a slider dedicated to hoster in the volume once i turn hoster on and it is maxed but still nothing everything else works fine so far.

The only thing I can think of to try from looking at Vista, is to make sure the Speakers, slider is turned up, and that you don't have the Hoster App Muted under there.

no tried that....everything is good there any body else run into this? or any other suggestions to try?

Have you turned the computer totally off and back on so Windows closes and restarts?

My Laptop has all sorts of abnormal problems if it goes into hibernation when I don't use it for a while, and then I wake it back up. Turning it off and back on always solves the problem. I'm using XP Pro.

Also, try totally removing Hoster, so any remaining older components are removed, and then reinstalling the new version from scratch. Sometimes updating an existing installation, especially a very old one, can give surprises.

thank you for the responce...did all that and still no audio! very frustrating it could be something simple i am overlooking seeing no one else has seemmed to have this problem... any other ideas?
