First thing to understand is the import function for singer's discs and the import you use to add discs to your songs database are the same. The only difference is when importing from a singer's disc is the file created is in a temporary location and deleted after it has been played. Both create a kma file. Is this a constant occurance or just occasionally? Have you tried duplicating this with your own disc? Since you don't use your discs for your shows I would think they would be in fairly new condition so graphics should be clean. If yours works ok then I would suspect the singer's disc. I always inspect a singer's disc very carefully before I put it in my drive and on occasion I have set up my disc cleaner and run their disc through it before using it. I have even rejected a disc or two because they were badly scratched and I knew they would either take forever to decode or wouldn't work at all.

What version of Hoster are you running?
What CD/DVD drive are you using: Model # and Firmware (you can see this in the Tools menu > Default Drives command dialog)? |

![]() Hi guys,
Hoster version Im running is 3.316 no Im not importing from discs. I have cdg files on my hard drive that Iv paid for and downloaded from a web sight. When I play all 3 types of files: .kma /.cdg / .dat they play perfectly on both primary and secondary screens on hoster. When I play the .dat & .kma files they play perfectly on the tv screen. As soon as I play a .cdg file and move the screen over to the extended tv screen, it looks like a mess ![]() Yes you are right as far as the graphics aren't clearing when the lyrics show up....then those lyrics aren't clearing either and so on. |

How are you playing those CDG files? Are using the Import Tracks from HDD? If so they are converted to .kma files when you do that, so shouldn't be any problem unless the files you are downloading are bad or not to standard format.

[What do you mean by primary and secondary screens on Hoster? Is this without a TV hooked up? So you mean with the singers display showing on top of the main Hoster window?] Sorry, yes I meant the little screen and the singers display screen. Quote: [Is this without a TV hooked up?] No. I do have a tv hooked up. When I play all 3 types of files: .kma /.cdg / .dat they play perfectly on both the primary(little screen) and secondary(singers display) screen on hoster. When I play the .dat & .kma files they play perfectly on the tv screen. As soon as I play a.cdg file it plays perfect on both the (little screen) and the (singers display) screen but not on the tv. Quote: [...the files you are downloading are bad or not to standard format.] I dont believe the cdg files I download are bad. If they were, they wouldnt be playing perfectly on both hosters little screen and the singers display screen? They come in a zip form. I use a prog called MP3+G Tool4 to unzip the files into 2 seperate files: .cdg & .mp3. Eg: A zip file looks like this: sc8554-07_-_benson,_george_-_give_me_the_night.zip Once unzipped they look like this: sc8554-07_-_benson,_george_-_give_me_the_night.cdg sc8554-07_-_benson,_george_-_give_me_the_night.mp3 I have imported a few and converted them to .kma just to see if that would solve the problem but when I play them as .kma files they're still a mess on the tv yet perfect on both the little screen and singers display screen? Quote: [How are you playing those CDG files?] I click MP3G under "Add Track", pick a song and play it. I hope Iv explained it better this time. I really hope we can resolve this coz I have 1000's of these files ![]() Last edited by kiwisinger; April 6th, 2007 at 10:26 AM. |

Ok, I think I understand it now, but have one more little question.
![]() Describe your equipment physical hook-up/set-up as i am still fuzzy on this. Have you tried importing them zipped instead of unzipping and importing?

If I am getting this right, you are using 2 TV's for displaying lyrics. One for the singer and one for the audience. The question then is how/where do you have them hooked into the system?

Are you running dual computer monitors?
Does all of the Hoster windows show on the Computer monitor and the TV? You should be in Extended mode not dual.

[Are you running dual computer monitors?] No, just the one monitor. Quote: You should be in Extended mode not dual.] I do have it set in "Extended mode" but I have to also enable "Configured Independently from each other(Dual View)" or it wont show up on the tv. Remember, the other two files play perfectly on th tv in this setup. Quote: [Does all of the Hoster windows show on the Computer monitor and the TV?] The small screen is there on hoster and the singers display screen is dragged over to the "extended mode" monitor which shows up on the tv. |

Ok. I still think it has to be those files. Have you tried importing them without unzipping them?
Do you have Microstudio? If so try using it to build a CD+G disc with some of them and see if that will make them display right.

I havent got Microstudio so I cant try that idea but I'll try importing the zip files and see what happens.
What I dont understand is why the cdg files play perfectly on both the little screen and singers display screen on hoster then as I drag the singers display (while its still playing) over to not the extended tv screen its a mess??? Strange? ![]() Thanx ddouglass for your patients....I'll let you no what happens. ![]() |

Well Iv tried importing the cdg zip files and no joy....its still not clearing on the tv screen.
It still plays perfectly on both screens of hoster. Iv even converted the zip files to .bin, then using CDRWin, Iv made a cdg disc which I played in my cdg player. It played perfectly onto the tv. I then imported from that same disc into hoster, but still a mess on the tv screen?? I have now downloaded a couple of other CDG file players and both of them play the cdg files perfectly on the tv screen? Because I have thousands of cdg files, Im forced to use one of these other programs which is dissapointing. Thanx for your patience and your suggestions ![]() |

Well, I connected another computer monitor and all my mp3+g files played perfectly.....so looks like the only way round my problem is using 2 monitors.
What I dont understand is why it wont play on the tv?? So, if anyone else has this problem, just use another comp monitor ![]() |

Part of the reason we haven't been able to help is because of your very unconventional setup. I'm aware of one person who uses 2 graphic cards so they can have the Singer Name Display (SND)on a separate TV/monitor (i don't remember which), but in my 4 years with Hoster I've yet to encounter someone using 2 graphics cards to display lyrics.
When it comes to computer smarts Dale can probably run circles around most everyone on this forum but if you re-read his posts even he's having a hard time (as did I) visualizing your setup. Unless you've got a compelling reason for your configuration I'd lose the extra card and monitor (you can still have as many TV's as you like) and then youll have the Hoster program on the computer monitor and all your files will display on the TV(s) as they should

Sam that was me who setup the dual graphics to give me 4 screen capability (only tried three so I could put the SND on a separate screen, but these are cards that are designed to work together. Haven't used it in a show yet as we lost that show a couple months back.
kiwisinger, Sam is right. You need to lose the second card and just use a splitter to feed to both TVs simultaniously. This is the setup (our mixer has multiple outputs for TVs) we have used where the club has a large screen TV and want the singers to be able to get out into the audience. Never had a problem with it.

![]() Ok....let me run it by you again.....hopefully we might beable to sort this out cause I really do love the program
![]() 1. Yes I do have 2 cards: Nvidia 7600GTS 512meg ram ea card. 2. I disabled "SLI" cause it just wouldnt allow the tv to work in extended view for some reason??. 3. Im only running "ONE" tv via a "S-Video to RCA" converter out of "ONE CARD ONLY"....the same card my comp monitor is connected to. ============= That is my setup ===================== Everything was and does work perfectly with Hoster when I play .kma and .dat files with Hoster. * Both these file's graphics show up on the tv perfectly. * Without changing anything, as soon as I play a .cdg file, it plays perfectly on the little and singers screen on hoster but its a mess on the tv?? Yet when I disconnect the tv and plug a second computer monitor in, hoster plays all my .cdg files perfectly on both computer monitors?? So, does this help?? ![]() |

What is the refresh rate set to in the secondary monitor properties? Also check the back of the TV as it may have a refresh rate setting listed (not always but some do). For TV's it should be either 60 or 75 Hz.
You are going from S-Video on card to S-Video into a converter then RCA from converter to TV RCA. Is this correct? Have you tried an S-Video straight from card to an RCA (cable making conversion) into TV? I sure wish you could draw a diagram of your system and attach it to a post. It would make this a bit easier. ![]()
