It would be helpful to have some computer specs, although I suspect it's more than a hardware problem (except possibly a defective CD/DVDROM) since you shouldn't have problems getting audio even if there are problems with the graphics.

You do realize that the dvd drive you list above isn't on the list of drives recognized by Hoster or Microstudio. That doesn't mean it won't work but this could be part of your problem.

Have you opened a trouble ticket with MTU? If not I would suggest you do to get MTUSupport on this problem.

I am presuming you didn't get any error messages when you imported the songs so those files should be ok. If you have another computer you could temporarily load Hoster on (you can load on 2 machines), copy some of those kma files to it, and try them this would eliminate/confirm import problems. If you can't do that then you might send one file (smallest one) to MTU or one of us for testing.

If the problem isn't in importing then it has to be in the playback. You say you get no video or audio but the counter is still moving. Are you looking/listening on the laptop or do you have a TV/audio system plugged in and looking there?

When you start a song do you see a black screen open up and does the small window upper left side go black as well?

You don't mention in your hardware description a sound card. I am sure there has to be one builtin. Make sure your CD, WAV, and master audio volumes are all the way up and not muted.

Check MTU's products. They have External drives and also have a laptop drive that they guarantee will work with their programs.

This drive will definitely NOT import cd+g with Hoster... I had one in my Compaq Presario 2580US and swapped it with a GCC-4241N which will work with cd+g. I got a used one on ebay for $36.00 incl shipping.

Good Luck

just go to ebay and type in the brand and model of your notebook and search for a crdw drive ....like HP _____ notebook dvd/cdrw drive...(fill in your model in the blank). if you have questions you may submit them to the seller concerning whether it will fit your particular notebook or whether it comes with mount bracket or faceplate or such. Also I don't know whether ebay allows shipping to APO address or not???? You can ask the seller that also.

I may be wrong, but I think we (MTU) will ship to any location in the USA. The problem with shipping overseas is the VAT tax being billed back to us!

Submit a Support Ticket in the Support Center to Sales, ask them what drive you want and will we ship to you. Enter your full SHIPPING address so Sales will know.
