This is what I've encountered/learned

If it's A Dell Laptop -- 3 prong to 2 prong adapter
If it's an HP Laptop -- a shielded audio Cable - 1/8 Stereo to XLR (M) Contact Bill @ ESC

I also use a Mackie 808M Amp -- but this isn't unique to the mixer/amp -- Laptops in general seem to exhibit this -- and desktops as well , just to a lesser degree.
