slight squealing sound

I am running my laptop through a mackie 808m 1200 watt head and I have a slight squealing sound in between songs. I have been just turning the volume down until the next song begins to starts. Its not that bad but kinda bothers me because it didnt do it before. I was woundering if there was something I could do to make it stop.

Re: slight squealing sound

Could be a "Ground Loop" (the sound of your internal workings of the laptop being amplified). Radio Shack has a "Ground Loop Isolator" Gets rid of the squeal.

WWW.radioshack.com Go here and Search for Ground Loop Isolator or Ground Loop isolation transformer.

The tranformer action does not allow the ground to continue to "Loop Around"

Good Luck,

Re: slight squealing sound

This is what I've encountered/learned

If it's A Dell Laptop -- 3 prong to 2 prong adapter
If it's an HP Laptop -- a shielded audio Cable - 1/8 Stereo to XLR (M) Contact Bill @ ESC

Hope this helps!

I also use a Mackie 808M Amp -- but this isn't unique to the mixer/amp -- Laptops in general seem to exhibit this -- and desktops as well , just to a lesser degree.

I had the same problem, I use an ebbtech hum eliminator. google for it and read about it. I believe it is hard drive noise being carried over through the ground. It will go away, when you unplug it an run off batteries. I recommend against using the ground lift adapter.
