I had the same type of problems with my laptop, found out it was because of shared memory with my video card. Thanks to Bryan and MTU forms and Hoster manual, I have used my laptop flawlessly at several shows. I have found the cost for MTU products are very small when you consider the support that comes with them.

I also have a laptop computer that I use at home. It only has 256 meg of memory, 800mh celeron prosser and 8 meg of video memory. I don't have any proplems with it running 3.006. I think I would do as Beavis said and reformat the hard drive and start over. I think Hoster products are the best, and well worth the money.
