Re: unable to open singer database

If none of the previous posts help then maybe best to submit a support ticket and point to this thread in the submission.

Sorry I couldn't help.

Re: unable to open singer database

One last stab at this, it may be something in your registry which when you uninstall does not get removed.
So un-instal again. Then open your C\MTU folder this time if the Hoster folder is still there delete it.

Then not sure if this will be the same in Windows 8 but follow these instructions to delete the registry keys: http://www.mtu.com/faq-test.php?article=26

On the first bit where it states Start click Run instead of that just type regedit.exe in the search box then from the results click it to start it.

Then re boot computer, then re-install.

This should then be as if you never had Hoster on this computer before so if as you say it installed correctly before then I see no reason why it shouldn't again.

Best of luck.

Re: unable to open singer database

none of it worked. I have no idea what the problem is, I've removed it completely, re installed, removed all the registry stuff, still no luck. Comes up, picks cd roms to test, then says can't find singers database again. Very frustrating. I have put in a request for assistance but don't know how to add this thread to it.

When you open the Hoster folder, can you see a singers.mdb file in there ?
I know you said you don't use any singers database but that file should still be present even if empty.

Re: unable to open singer database

No, it's gone. Remember, I did a complete removal and a brand new install, and that is not there. Now I'm really confused. I'll have to wait for mtu to get back to me.

Re: unable to open singer database

When you delete the singers.mdb the next time you start Hoster it should replace it.

As you say wait and see what support comes up with.
