I'm in the process of loading a bunch of videos just for testing purposes. I have never had anything to do with videos since it became availablle in Hoster. I have really abused Hoster 508.B1 as I have mentioned in previous post and have had no issues. I always use BA, RS, Tempo is always on and I use the InstaButtons for audio only. NO PROBLEMS. So, I thought after reading many of these posts it was time to start experimenting with videos. Maybe I don't get it but why do any of you use videos at a karaoke show. What do you run and how do you apply them to the show. I guess I'm a little slow in that department. I always felt karaoke shows are for singing so I don't get the videos. Any feedback will be appreciated and in the mean time I wil start trying to crash Hoster with videos.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

Friday night I used Hoster for videos, mp3's, and instabuttons and about 38 singers. No crashes. Closed Hoster, opened up VDJ towards the end of the night to play mp3's and video's, then they asked for karaoke again. Closed Vdj, opened hoster back up and they sang a dozen more songs. All this in a four hour show. No Crashes.

Saturday night. Played Vdj for about one hour using mp3's ,w/slideshow and video tracks. They started singing 1/2 way through the night, brought up Hoster and "Minimized Vdj, had a crash after an hour and half of singers, then another crash 15 minutes later.

Still don't want to blame Vdj, as it was minimized like others do with no problems.

If You need to step up your game, then you'll need a program like VDJ for slide shows of the previous weeks show pics while running dance music people can enjoy and hot videos with video effects and a alot of other things like VST's during intermissions....and alot more, ....wish they fix this video issue...

Depends on the venue and the mood of the crowd, sometimes if they're having fun, it could be one hour or even longer, but for the must part it usually ranges from 20min to haif hour..

I've run some heavy clubs that 10min was too much, but now I'm taking a break no matter and those who don't get to sing still have fun with all that I have to offer...

So it really comes down to your intertainment ablility and the tools that you use to accomplish that task...

Interesting. The singers where I play are ready to lynch me if I play to many dance songs between karaoke. Never tried the videos or slides.

Show them their faces on screen and give them some eye candy and no need to explan what you do and how you do it, if you do it well..

Just know you can't please everyone, you will always have those that will complain, it's the nature of the beast, don't let them wag your tail at all...

Walt and I must play at the same type of venues with the same serious Karaoke Singers!

I NEVER takes intermissions... From the moment I start to the moment I stop, there are no breaks. The only slight break I get is during a dance song which is every 4-5 Singers. If no one dances, I go even longer between dance songs!

I time my bathroom breaks for 4 minute (or longer) songs.

I only have a Singers monitor at my show. I want the audience to look at the Singer, not a monitor! I do not ever play videos or regular music.

The way I operate is by my own choosing and I like it that way (my Singers too)!!!

Used my new laptop for the first time on my Sunday night gig( At a Casino with two 70 inch screens facing a slot machine area high up on a stage with an audience of 100 people, and more like another 1000 in the gambling area.

Virtual DJ was never even turned on and neither was McAfee Antivirus. Well, Hoster crashed about 2 1/2 hours into the show. Had to restart Hoster. When I did, the singers's screen and two 70 inch screens showed 1/2 size vertically (okay horizontally though) and had to take a few seconds to resize to full screen. This was the first time Hoster crashed when it was the only program on and running.

The only thing different that I did try was fade in and out was 2 sec., instead of 3 sec. And remove silence's added silence was 2 sec., before and after, instead of 3 sec. At least I know that this has nothing to do with Vdj, but maybe the settings. Oh, it crashed after a hdmp3g song. So I have had crashes with all file types now.

I'm gonna go back and use Hoster only running with these settings at 3 sec. Instead of 2. So far, this combination hasn't had a crash yet after maybe 3 or 4 hundred singers total.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here

I was having a problem with hoster crashing 2 or 3 times a show with nothing else running on the computer. All updates done. About a month ago I turned off BA. Have had NO crashes since. Maybe this info will help.

Thanks Bob, and I'm sure the information will help, but apparently there's been crashing with and without BA. I've never used it. I went a really long time w/o a crash when I took off VDJ, then one came randomly crawling back. Really confusing. In a way, I'm just happy that i am not the only one that is getting these, and so random at that. I'm sure MTU is workinng on it knowing that it is a problem that does exist.

Also, let me ask "How many shows have you done with BA disabled and no crashes. Approximately how many singers' songs would that be?

Were you using a VGA (probably minature on your new laptop) or HDMI for you video out?

Just curious.

Bryant,

Can't say good news, just a possibility as to what may be causing the crashes.

I use my minature VGA out to a standard VGA splitter connected to all my monitors. Also I run BA, RS, Insta Buttons, Tempo, and occasional Key Change in Hoster. External to Hoster, Internet Explorer, Anti Virus (Symantec) and Outlook not to mention staying connected to the internet 100% of the time. I do not have VDJ or utilize HDMI. I also have not experienced any crashes in months.

When I look at Device Manager for Audio Devices I notice 2 different drivers. 4 for Nvidia High Def Audio and 1 for Realtek Audio.

Just a thought.... In your case you could very well have the same setup as far as audio drivers as I have. There could be a conflict that occurrs sometime during your show that your applications cannot decide which driver to use when you utilize the HDMI output. Meaning the HDMI output likes to use the Nvidia High Def Audio and all of a sudden one of your applications decides to use Realtek audio.

If you have the capability to connect to your monitors utilizing VGA only and run a show you may narrow down the problem. Or possiably go into your Nvidia control panel and disable the High Def Audio while using HDMI.

Just a thought.

Think I'll check that out and try that . Thanx, although I do remember the first night I used the laptop I DID use the mini-vga out and got the first crash within ten minutes and another crash later in the show.
