The K volume for your drive is OK, I only queried it as it was an unusual selection.
Which version were you running before you lost most of your songs ?
If you were previously running an earlier version than 5.03 then you would need to follow these instructions first: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?t=13002

What I was trying to do was get you back to a time & version that was working OK for you. The reason being the 5.07 install allows you to run both your old version and the new version in unison with one another.
If you do as you ask above with a completely new install it will only load version 5.07 as it would be as if you had no previous version installed unless you re-install your previous good version first.
If you do that I should make sure your previous version is running correct before installing 5.07.

If you want to go down the route of a completely new install of 5.07 only then I would try this:
First make a backup of your Hoster folder that can be found in the C:/MTU folder, save somewhere safe like a usb stick, another drive or CD, this may be helpful if you want to recover lost play list and singers list or other info later.
Now un-install Hoster then clear out the Hoster registry by following these instructions:
http://www.mtu.com/faq-test.php?article=26.
Doing this will lose all your instabutton settings and all previous settings.
Then look in the C:/MTU folder and if there is still a Hoster folder (not the backup one you saved earlier) Delete it. then re-install Hoster but be aware if you do this you will probably lose all play lists, singers list, and other settings, it should be as if you never had Hoster installed.
The backup of the Hoster folder would have saved some settings like singers lists and play lists and certain other data which you may be able to recover later but not the instabuttons as they are stored in the registry keys..
Roy,
Not meaning to hi-jack this thread but you mentioned something that has been a mystery to me for a long time. You said "the instabuttons are stored in the registry keys". Is this also true with the latest song additions under the song count for the songbook?

Short answer No. For some reason that is only known to MTU, they seem to store all references to instabuttons in the registry.
All songs data is still stored in the songs.mdb along with the kma files and the kmh headers files.
Perhaps Admin or some other staff member could explain that point better.

Don't know the absolute answer. My bet is the number of NEW songs added to the Songs.mdb AFTER you "approve" that you have reprinted your Songbook is stored in a Registry Key. That's the ONLY place we store persistent data, and this count is definitely retained.

The reason I asked, in order to back up my main computer to my backup computer, I copy the entire MTU file and store it on my external drive. I then delete the MTU file on my backup computer and paste the backup MTU file that I stored on my hard drive. Everything seems to work ok except if I have any new song counts in the main computer they are back to 0 on the backup computer. Of course the insta buttons are gone as explained by Roy. I hope I made this clear enough.

Registry Keys are NOT stored in a user controller folder, such as C:/MTU/Hoster. You would need to copy them using RegEdit to edit your Registry Keys, and that gets dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.

Doing the copy as you indicate above could be dangerous. We RECOMMEND you rebuild the Songs Database, and refresh the Singers Database when you copy then to a new computer. In the Songs.mdb case, if all your KMH/KMA files are not on the external drive in the SAME drive/folder/sub-folder/etc. path, rebuilding it will NOT duplicate the Songs.mdb identical to the Show computer.

Wow! Could be dangerous?...I better change my ways. Thank you very much.

If you understand RegEdit, then use it. Most users don't do this and if they copy the wrong data, it could mess up their Registry. Recovering from that takes true "techy knowhow", and we don't like to educate anyone to this level by phone, forum or support ticket.

I know messing with the registry can be a disaster. What I was refering to as dangerous was your reference to coping the mtu folder. I have done this for long time when setting up a backup computer and have never had any problems but I don't want my luck to run out. That is what I meant by "I better change my ways" as to doing my backup setup as you suggested.

Thanks,

Walt
