Do you have a computer that you could set up Hoster 5.02 on and copy all his files over to it so we can continue working on this during the week? You should be able to use the second copy of his license to do this if it hasn't been used.
I am almost to the point of making a trip up to where you are as we are not that far apart. I am about 75 miles north of Houston.
The bar has a main PC and a laptop that they use as a backup in case one system goes down (happened once). I've installed Hoster on the main PC and I think I installed it on the laptop, but I could get the laptop when I drop off the PC today and remove the license.

I was planning on making a copy of the music to fix here then copy it back to the HDD of the PC and the Backup Laptop, that way all the files are the same.

I don't know if they are willing to pay me to fix the files, but there are a lot that need fixing just for the Artist/Title switch.

I'm still importing and will report back.

A couple of other things that I noticed, Hoster will kick out files that have a tilde over a letter, like Buble vs Bublẽ. The later will get kicked out.

Also, if you have an extra space before the dash as in SC8000-01 - Artist - Title, after the 01 are two spaces, this gets kicked out

Also, if you are copying files and accidentally copy a zip folder into another zip file, this file will get kicked out (found several of those).

It will get skipped if the import file screen isn't set up exactly for this format. If your other files are setup without the two spaces & your import screen is setup for those, then anything else that you are trying to import is not going to be imported - this sounds like the entire issue that you are encountering. You would not get a bad import report for these files because they were not being imported.

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. My guess is this has gone on for a while and files they thought were imported were just not there. It is going to take a while to do all of that but should be well worth it to them.

So far, all the IDs are in a proper range. I've seen some files importing tracks that weren't there. For example, they only imported one track off a CD, however, on the importHDD it shows multiple tracks being imported. I'll have to verify this after the import.

I will say though that I think you are right about adding some filtration ability in hoster, even my personal files are not 100%, but hoster should catch the occasional error and either kick it out or notify you of the error.

Going smoothly, about another hour and I'll have a final count.

And to Lonman, I already dealt with those files, they weren't the issue, just part of a problem.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Here's the update:

Hoster reported "NEW" songs imported as 255704, which is off a little, but I was willing to accept that as an issue with a few files maybe not viable.

When I open the database in access I see that Hoster has imported 24,960 which, so far, is the most that it has imported.

I'm currently making a copy of the files onto a external HDD for further dissection to see if there is anything more I can do to correct the files (assuming they are in error despite being shown as imported while I watched for 3 hours).

I'll get the Laptop Computer and work on the files on the Laptop since it is supposed to be the backup anyway. I'll be interested to know how many files it reports when I do the scan of the KMH files first, then a separate import.

I'm going to try and get this "running" in the show today, and indicate that some files (over 700) may not be available and have them make a list, this will help me look at specific files.

I know already that "teenage dream" shows 6 copies in the other software, but in hoster, only 4, one now being the Glee version which was missing because of the duplicate file number.

Thanks for dealing with my frustration, I'm disabled because of that and when things go well I'm unaffected, but when things go bad, it gets downright debilitating.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Forgot to mention, once Hoster was done with the first scan of the 24,000 some odd songs (before I have to add the &this for the Chartbuster Tracks), it only indicated having imported 16 songs.

I deleted the songs database and the backup, also I started with NO kmh or txt files in the folders.

Later when it finished indexing the Chartbuster CBxxx-xx-01 type files, it indicated 19 tracks were added to the database, even though it went through about 1,000 tracks.

Hope this helps.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I think I found the missing 759 files.

Under the MTU folder there is a file called: buildsongdblog.txt this log has lots of "duplicates" listed that it didn't import. Upon searching the database, I see for example there are two QH0329 folders with songs in them.

I also think that that one file without a dash segmenting the disk id from the track, was throwing things off.

I think hoster is due some better filters, and better error logs, that hoster claims only to import 19 songs, when it says 24,000 is a big scare. Hopefully this will be worked out.

Thanks Doug and Roy for your assistance. I think we can chalk this one up as resolved 80% database fault 20% software I feel in the end. Those filters will surely help in the future.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I think I did a dumb thing, I got the laptop home and we agreed to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7, but I forgot to uninstall hoster (our second copy) off this PC, will it give the same information because the components are the same so they can reset it? Probably should ask this in a different post.
