Sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday, I was tied up most of the afternoon and evening. Since my post, Roy has posted a detailed description on what you need to do. He has the answers and this should solve your problem or get you very close to where you want to be. Post back and let us know how you make out.

This was a fresh install from scratch on a brand new computer that had never had hoster installed. I did go through all the processes of changing windows prior to installing hoster. The version that was on my old computer was 5.8 and prior to that was 4.30. I did not have any version of Hoster on the drive that I transfered over from the old computer to the new one.

Any help would be appreciated.

Trying to understand your drive situation.
I take it you installed Hoster to your C\drive to all the default paths ?

Do you have music files on this C\ drive as well ?

Or is all your music on the slave drive ?

Does one of the drives hold a backup or copy of the same music files that you import ?

How much free space is showing on the C\Drive ?

I am new to Windows 8. It shows that on the Windows C drive I have 103gb of 149gb free; on the Data D drive I have 597gb of 764gb free and on my Karaoke F drive I have 382gb of 931gb free. I do not have any music or karaoke on any other drive except for my F drive. I am not sure why I have a C & D drive and why they are different. Hope this helps.

It sounds like it has made 2 petitions on the internal hard drive so although you have 1 TB you only have a relatively small C:\drive compared to the amount of songs you have on your F drive. I think this might be causing problems when Hoster uses your C drive for tempory storage as has been found in earlier posts although you say you checked the temp folder and only found a couple of songs in it.

In view of this I have to ask you another question, on your F drive are your music files stored in separate folders for different types, all in one single folder or no folder at all just in the F drive ?

Assuming your answer above is separate folders

I would try the following:
Open Hoster/Tools/Hoster data folder close Hoster but leave the data folder open, find your HosterInfoIndexed.ini file and delete it.
Now open Hosters build songs database dialog and the list of folders in the bottom left window should now be empty or it might just have a single folder something like C\MTU.
Now clear any highlighted buttons in the top area under song types to index, then press the rebuild database button, this should give you an empty database to start from.
Now assuming your files are in separate folders on the F drive and none of the song types to index buttons are highlighted, use the Add folder button (not the Add Folders/subfolders button) and select one of your folders from the F drive preferably the smallest one for this test and see if it indexes those files OK.
If all goes well add more folders one at a time, if after it indexed the folder it reports any thing like only indexed xxx out of xxxx or any other messages report back what happened.

Question Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

Both versions of 5.09 have a distinct "click" if the song is stopped early. I have not updated my main computer yet because of this. For some reason I cannot make a new post anymore?? Would someone with the power please report this so it can be fixed. It did not do this with 5.08 on either of my machines. Both are HP Laptops running Windows 7.

Can you look at your Tools menu/Audio controls dialog, is the fade out control set to 0 if so try it at 0.5 or more see if that cures it.

I don't know why you can't make a new post

Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

Hi Roy.
I set my fadeout to .5 It was a 2.0 and still getting the little squeek if I stop a song early. I did Roy's "fix" by clicking on the vol icon and changing the setting under playback-properties-enhancements-disable all enhancements but I still get the squeek or audible noise when ending a song early. I know, as the doctor said "well quite doing that" but sometimes I do end songs early.

I've no idea why you should be getting this problem as I have tried to duplicate it and can't.

I found this other post which is related to HP computers, a different problem to yours but may be worth looking into, it was to do with the audio drivers.
You can read it here: http://forum.mtu.com/showpost.php?p=116272&postcount=13

Her problem was audio drops but as it was an Hp issue might have some bearing on yours.

I can duplicate the "click" sound that TKelly is reporting only on 5.10 Beta 2, with my Acer Backup Laptop... I cannot get the same click sound to repeat on 5.09 B2 or 5.08.11 ( I have 3 versions running on this laptop )... only way I can get rid of the click sound is by turning off Breakaway Audio Enhancer... which doesn't seem to affect the other two versions... I run 5.09.02 & 5.09 B2 & 5.08.11 on my XP Show laptop with Breakaway Running, and no audible click sound on either version!

tkelley3,
I entered "our" problem on the Beta Tester Site, and Removal & Re-Installing was suggested by KenKelley... I tried it, and it worked for the version I was running (5.10 Beta2) *Note I am a Beta Tester for Hoster, so You won't have this version until the next upgrade! But maybe removing and re-installing 5.09 will work for you, like it did for me with 5.10... Good Luck!

Exclamation Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

I've been using 5.09 for about a month now. I started learning new things and one that I found that I like was to be able to add the song the singer just sang to that singers list from the Playlist by right mouse button click.

I tried the refreshing DB. The only way to add the songs to the singer database is to re-look the song up and add it at that time now.

I thought this was going to be an easy add to the singers database but now it has become much work again.

Now that function does not work anymore does anyone have any ideas?

I re-installed Hoster 5.09.02. I always make sure on updates. I am using Windows 8

Once you have the song in the playlist and you want to add it to the singers list, you first click on the singers column next to the song you want to add, place the singer you want to add in that column, hit enter. Now make sure that song is highlighted and again right click on it, you will see in the pop up menu the option of adding to the singers list. Hope this explains it clearly. Let me know if you get it to work.

Wink Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

I leaving for a job tonight in 15 minutes and I'll try this since I already packed.

What I have been trying is right mouse button the song in the playlist next to the singers name and a submenu appears to add the song to that singers list. I clicked add and than looked into the singers list and nothing was there. I refreshed the singers DB and still nothing.

But, I'll have few minutes before I start tonight and I'll give your suggestion a try.
Thanks

Are you running 5.09.02 ? as I don't think that was working correct in 5.09.01

Question Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

I am running V 5.09.02

This playlist I have been using for a couple of years with V 4.30 and never thought about creating a singers database.

Now I am trying right now to add songs to the singers database. I created a new name form the Playlist to add to the singers database by right mouse button on the song. A submenu shows to add to that singers database.
I click that option to add. I check the singers database and it does not show in the singers database. I try refresh DB for that singer and still nothing.
Now I know this has worked as I have used this a week before. Now all of a sudden it stops adding
So, I restarted Hoster, tried adding to the singers database and I will be able to add a song to a singers database. But only one song will work. NO more songs will get added to any singers database from the Playlist.

Have you opened the singers.mdb in Access at some time which may have corrupted it.?

Seeing as you are new to this you probably don't have a very long list of names, try starting from scratch, to do this:

start Hoster, from the Tools Menu select "Hoster Data Folder", when the folder opens close Hoster but keep the folder open.
Now look for "singers.mdb" right click on it and choose rename and name it something like "singersold.mdb" close the folder and restart Hoster this will create a new empty singers.mdb. The renaming is just for back up purposes you can always name it back later if you want.
Now see if you can add more singers.
When you right click on the song in the playlist the fly out window would be greyed out if there is not a singers name in the name column or would say "Add to xxxx Songs, xxxx being the singers name.
Or you should be able to double left click on the singers name and either select one from the list or just type a new name press enter to clear the edit box then right click the song and it should then allow adding that new name straight to the singers database even if that singer was not in the database previously.

Post Re: Hoster 5.09 Has been released May 28, 2013

Hey Rick...I will try removing and installing 5.09. Thanks for the suggestion. Usually when I do this I get a licence problem and have to have the Hoster support people reset my account but anything to get 5.09 working so I can upgrade my "production" laptop to the new version. (I have two HP laptops and only update the production laptop when Hoster settles down on the first one.) I don't want problems during a show!!
