Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

I've found the problem, now I need a solution and we HAVE to say that it is the software.

I checked on of the other songs that isn't showing up and I opened the KMH file. The KMH file has the same BOOKID and I know that they can't have the same book ID.

Both have the following book ID: 176947901

Now what?

Searching through the database you sent I see one file that seems to be confusing Hoster because of the format for the name.
It is in C:\Karaoke Music\2010\November. Filename is SBI-23252 - Glee Cast - Don't Rain on my Parade.zip
Hoster is taking this as DiskID= SBI and Track= 23252 of disk number 1896. From that point it is using 1896232 and above as the disk number part of the BookID incrementing from that point. This seems to be the reason why you suddenly have such large BookIDs. If you change this filename to SBI23252 (no dash) then add a -01 after that then your BookIDs will not jump up to such a large number.
If you found one duplicate BookID I am sure there are more. You say you don't have any kind of error log file in C:\MTU\Hoster and I don't know why it wouldn't be there if you have duplicates. The only way I could see duplicates even coming up is if when you started over importing that you did not delete all the old KMH files in all the folders.
You did say there is another program on this computer you can use. I would have them use it for now and wait until the next time you can get the computer back to work on this.
There is a big difference in the way Version 5 handles the importing/indexing of files as opposed to how version 4 handled them, but that doesn't mean it is a software bug.
Using 20/20 hindsight since all of these files had been imported in a previous version, then all you needed to do was to Rebuild the database after adding the main folder using the Add Folder/Sub-Folder button. Since the kmh files and database are in the state they are in right now then that won't be possible, because of the duplicate BookIDs and the messed up numbers. We will figure this out and get it working right for you so don't give up on Hoster yet.

Thanks, got it before hoster did. Relabeled that one too.

It's funny that hoster would do this wild jumping, and yes, no duplicates listed in any error. Strangely, the duplicates have a index.txt file saying they were imported... weird.

This may be where the problem is coming into this and Hoster may need some corrections/filters to stop this kind of wild numbering. I will be talking to Admin on Tuesday as he is unavailable this weekend. I really hope you don't drop this as I think we can work through it and stop this stuff from happening again for someone else.
Do you have a computer that you could set up Hoster 5.02 on and copy all his files over to it so we can continue working on this during the week? You should be able to use the second copy of his license to do this if it hasn't been used.
I am almost to the point of making a trip up to where you are as we are not that far apart. I am about 75 miles north of Houston.

The bar has a main PC and a laptop that they use as a backup in case one system goes down (happened once). I've installed Hoster on the main PC and I think I installed it on the laptop, but I could get the laptop when I drop off the PC today and remove the license.

I was planning on making a copy of the music to fix here then copy it back to the HDD of the PC and the Backup Laptop, that way all the files are the same.

I don't know if they are willing to pay me to fix the files, but there are a lot that need fixing just for the Artist/Title switch.

I'm still importing and will report back.

A couple of other things that I noticed, Hoster will kick out files that have a tilde over a letter, like Buble vs Bublẽ. The later will get kicked out.

Also, if you have an extra space before the dash as in SC8000-01 - Artist - Title, after the 01 are two spaces, this gets kicked out

Also, if you are copying files and accidentally copy a zip folder into another zip file, this file will get kicked out (found several of those).

It will get skipped if the import file screen isn't set up exactly for this format. If your other files are setup without the two spaces & your import screen is setup for those, then anything else that you are trying to import is not going to be imported - this sounds like the entire issue that you are encountering. You would not get a bad import report for these files because they were not being imported.

Sounds like you are heading in the right direction. My guess is this has gone on for a while and files they thought were imported were just not there. It is going to take a while to do all of that but should be well worth it to them.

So far, all the IDs are in a proper range. I've seen some files importing tracks that weren't there. For example, they only imported one track off a CD, however, on the importHDD it shows multiple tracks being imported. I'll have to verify this after the import.

I will say though that I think you are right about adding some filtration ability in hoster, even my personal files are not 100%, but hoster should catch the occasional error and either kick it out or notify you of the error.

Going smoothly, about another hour and I'll have a final count.

And to Lonman, I already dealt with those files, they weren't the issue, just part of a problem.

Re: Hoster 5.02.7 Songs Not Showing up in Search

Something I didn't notice: The Mel05 files all had the same track number except for one. Mel05-01 - XXX - XXXXX.zip.

Additionally, there were some files that didn't have any artist or track because they were the vocal tracks and when imported didn't get an artist or track.

What I see has happened is Hoster is getting confused and creating these wild book IDs after trying to import the same file more than once, then certain files are either ignored or imported in this high range of book IDs.

Some of them show in the data base, some don't.

I've relabeled the Mel05's and am reimporting the WHOLE data base from scratch.

When I fixed and tried rebuilding, I got a realistic number, but the database didn't reflect what Hoster was saying. Hoster said it found 25721 tracks and that is closer to the 25737 that are there, but like I said, when I looked at the songs database, it was less than 25000.

When I'm done I'll have some notes for installing hoster in replacement of other software, some quirks I notice to save people from getting frustrated.

Thanks again for your help, I'll report back what happens after this import, in 3 hours or so.
