The OS was provided by Acer though I had to instal it from the setup file which is in a hidden 10gig partition. It included a lot of extra's from Acer with no way to opt out. Some of it I can turn off from the processes tab in task manager, but I haven't figured out how to turn it off permanently

Do a search in the registry for the process name. That should get you to the run location for it.

Threaded Mode
