Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here
Bryant, do you still have only 2Gig of RAM? I found I had less problems when I went from 2-3 Gig of RAM. That's especially helpful with Video.

I play every form of video on high def over 4 extended screens very clearly and completely flawless with every video effect running simultaneously that you can imagine with Virtual DJ for hours on end. Could do the same thing with Hoster 4.09D and VDJ on a 10 year old 2 gB laptop just two months ago. Never had a crash back then.

Nearly all of my original nightly crashes were with fade in/out at 2 sec. and remove silence added silence 2 seconds on both ends with prevent audio dropout at 10. At this time, I am at fade in/out at 3 sec. and remove silence at 3 sec. both ends, and prevent audio dropout at 20. This combination has been really reliable for about 500-600 singers over the last 20 gigs with this setting. I'm just hoping that this blast of info I supply on here about the crashes amy come up with something for programmers to get on.

Maybe somehow I am missing one tweak or something? ![]() How occasional is your crashes, Gerry? ![]() Keep in mind that 1 crash a month for you may be equivalent to twice a week for me at the rate I play. ![]()

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here
Sat. Nite with my trusty settings of Hoster only running and remove silence ON , added silence at 3 sec, before and after, fade in/out at 3 sec, and prevent audio dropout at asuper-safe 20, I threw VDJ in the mix now and put that on. Crashed after eight songs, hmm, but others have had crashes w/o vdj on, and I found one of my posts three weeks ago that stated I had not turned vdj onceand had still crashed with these settings at 2 seconds.
Then; Last night with trusty settings of 3 Sec. And no vdj on, I ran thru 80 singers with NO crashes. I now wonder if the two second settings increase the chances and/or having vdj on also increase the chances, so far with the trusty 3 sec. Settings AND vdj off I have gone about 700 singers w/o a crash. Also thinking that perhaps I was over due for a random crash andmy time was UP Sat.night and itjust happened. Really really weird. Let's keep plugging away as I really really really don't wish to go back to the crashless 4.09D, butIcan't let my wife move on yet to Hoster 5.x.

Have you contacted your computer manufacturer to have them walk you through a machine test? For my computer all I do is hit F12 during the boot sequence. It allows me to check all the hardware onboard to include the ram.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here
No, I haven't, but I will. Curious why you ask that as I have stated before all other programs work perfectly and better and faster on this machine that deal with videos. I can even play karaoke files on vdj perfectly using their tempo, key change, along with other effects, on two players at the same time and even split the screen so you can see both; and stop and restart one or the other and move ahead or behind at any pont in the song without ever going out of sync either. Vdj is not even originally designed to use as a karaoke program, I use it only for DJ,ing and video'ing as it is originally intended for.

Just a shot in the dark. We have near identical computers. Mine does not crash and yours does. I don't believe it is the programming. The only thing that you and I do different is how the extended monitors are connected, yours is HDMI and mine is VGA. Just trying to assist.

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here
It seems to me that it's to do with when you use vdj, as you stated above all was going OK until you quote "I threw VDJ in the mix now and put that on. Crashed after eight songs,"
I also stated before that I don't run VDJ while Hosters running as there was a conflict on the video side for me. I know Kod stated he runs VDJ at the same time, just wondering if he is showing video through VDJ or just using it as an audio player in which case the video conflict wouldn't occur ?

I "do not" ever run video's. I use VDJ for mp3 audio only! I "only" use a Singer's monitor (on purpose), so video's are of no use to me...

And remove silence's added silence was 2 sec., before and after, instead of 3 sec. At least I know that this has nothing to do with Vdj, but maybe the settings. Oh, it crashed after a hdmp3g song. So I have had crashes with all file types now. I'm gonna go back and use Hoster only running with these settings at 3 sec. Instead of 2. So far, this combination hasn't had a crash yet after maybe 3 or 4 hundred singers total." Also, others not using vdj have reported similar crashes. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here
Bryant,
Another spurrious thought while shopping for a HDTV. Is your laptop "Wireless Display" capable? Is it enabled or disabled?

Re: Post Hoster 5.07 Problems Here
It's the video engine that's at fault in Hosters, it doesn't play nice with other program running at the same time..
I used Hoster with Microstudio to play tracks from a customers karaoke cd and had no issues playing from the cd in Microstudio, ....The crash only happens when you need to bring back Hoster program.... It get's scared and crashes,.... But Microstudio doesn't... ...so it seems there is something to this that has to do with the video engine in Hoster... |
