Lightbulb A New Trick for CD+G?

Hi Everyone,

I don't know if anyone has discovered this:
I had problems importing Sound Choice 8683 History of Crosby, Stills and Top Tunes 099 The Beatles on to my hard drive to make copies. both CD+G's froze on the last noted track and I didn't know what to do.

Accidently I found that if I went to import tracks, select all, then deselected the last track (a hidden scramble track) imported the remaining tracks.
when the blue bars stopped moving on the last track for about 30 sec or so, I pressed Alt+Ctrl+Del, then scrolled to MTU & clicked on End task, then re-opened Microstudio and went to play then add track from hard drive, I had the entire disc including the last track which had frozen on me!!

It seems they have added some sort of scrambling to the end of the final noted track, and added a "hidden track" as for example track 16 on the Sound Choice disc & track 24 on the Top Tunes disc.

I know that the sound choice discs with mediacloq won't run on my PC at all, so if any body has found a way around that, let us know.

Tom

Media Cloq, now that's been a six page thread topic, here's a link to the thread, some people are reporting success , and others are not being able to do anything but dump them on e-bay,

Here's your link:

Cool

Yes you can copy SoundChoice Media Cloq Discs and here's how:
MEDIA CLOQ IS HARDWARE DEPENDENT, THERE IS ONLY ABOUT THREE CD-RW's THAT CAN READ MEDIA CLOQ.

1. You need Goldenhawk's v3.9a.
2. You need a Sony CRX 140S (SCSI) CD-RW.
One or two IDE will work, but the SCSI is best.
3. When you put in the Media Cloq disc you selct EXTRACT/DISCS/TRACKS/SECTORS ICON.
4. Select EXTRACT SECTORS.
5. It may take up to 15 Minutes to read the SECTORS.
6. Once the Sectors are Read, Right mouse clink on each sector make a note of the start and end sector numbers. These are the LBA NUMBERS.
7. Under DATATYPE Select AUDIO with CD+g (2448)
8. For each SECTOR (Represents a Track) under SECTOR SELECTION put in the Start and End LBA Numbers for that Sector.
9. Type in a File Name.
10. Clink on the START
11. YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COPIED A MEDIA CLOQ PROTECTED TRACK.
12. Once all Tracks have been Extracted as Sectors they are still "Bin" files.
13. Record you Tracks as you normally would.
14. YOU NOW HAVE A NEW MASTER SOUNDCHOICE DISC WITHOUT ANY MEDIA CLOQ PROTECTIONS, AND OF COURSE YOU CAN MAKE AS MANY COPIES OF THIS AS YOU WISH.

Talking I Recorded Media Clog CDGs with Microstudio

If you have the correct 'antique' burner you can record these just like any other disc. I made perfect copies without jumping through any hoops with Microstudio using my old HP Burner. This is all posted at the thread Jim referenced...Wayne

Hey KJ or Wayne,
Do you know what other CD burners will read the Media Cloq's??
Will the Sony 140e work? or the TDK Velo CD 8842?

Thanks,
Tom

The Sony CRX 140e MAY WORK.......YOU JUST HAVE TO TRY IT.

CAUTION: Sony made some OEM ......CRX 140e's.......
The OUTSIDE OF THE BOX MAY SAY CRX 140e, but the LABEL ON THE CD-RW SAYS SOMETHING ELSE.....THIS UNIT WILL NOT WORK.

THE LABEL ON THE UNIT MUST SAY CRX 140e.

SOME HP UNITS ARE MADE BY SONY......I BELIEVE THE 9300e WILL WORK....BUT CAN'T SAY FOR SURE.

FOR SOME REASON, MEDIA CLOQ DOESNT' LIKE IDE DRIVES.

SOME OF THE OLDER DRIVES MARKED ON THE FRONT AS "MULTIREAD" ALSO MAY WORK.....IT TRIAL AND ERROR.

I HAVE THE SONY CRX 140S.....AND I PERSONALLY KNOW IT WORKS.

According to the past discussion about this subject the HP 8100 seems to work with Microstudio 3.215, there are five on e-bay at this moment.

For those that haven't read the Sound Choice thread yet, you should, there is much information there, here is the link:

http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1016

But my best advise is never buy any disc with protection, Let the manufacturer know what you think about the practice, and hit them where it hurts, in their pockets, if they can't sell the product, the protection will come off.
