new to digital karaoke, need to buy files (Ksongs) for hoster?

You can't. You purchase the discs you want & import them into Hoster.

Go to any website that sells Karaoke CDs from the manufacturer and buy them there. Then rip them to your computer. I prefer the Express Karaoke website. I have gotten some great deals from them on CD packages.

that is what i needed to know
any advice on quickest way to rip cd's? what format bit rate are most of you using. I run QSC and Crown and run 700 w per channel at 8 ohm.

The higher the bitrate, the better the sound quality. I personally rip at 192. But the higher the bitrate, the bigger the file - but with hard drive pricing as low as they are nowdays, just get a good 300-500 GB drive & you should be good for a while.
No real fast way to rip, I do most of mine at a max 4 x speed after I found the faster doesn't always import the best & I am finding alot of my older imports I am needing to re-import because they were done at max & have massive graphic issues.

There is no need to rip your CDs to the computer. Just import them directly into Hoster. When you rip your CDs to MP3+G format you lower the quality and fullness of your music. If you want the best quality sound then don't waste your time ripping them.
I know all you guys say I need a backup. All you need is to back up your KMA files. Then you have them in a compressed format that doesn't lose quality and all you have to do to recover is restore them to the correct folder and rebuild database and you are back in business. Microstudio can even use KMA files to rebuild your CDGs or create a custom CD.

I was using rip as a generic term for converting to hard drive like Hoster does. Ripping doesn't just apply to mp3 files, it's a general term for copying to a computer hard drive.

Me too. It is the accepted term to place from a CD to a computer hard drive.

OK I give. But when most people refer to ripping it is usually to MP3. And since the title of Oncall's thread here is "New to Digital Karaoke" you might confuse him by calling it ripping instead of importing. I know there are quite a few who insist on converting all of their CDGs to MP3+G.

Ew! That would defeat the entire premise of Hosters high quality sounding kma files!

I agree and is redundant to boot. If you need a backup then the KMA file is the best way to provide.

i am "inputting" into hoster as a KMA file, using 160 at fastest speed. If the bulk of you say use 192 and slow it down a bit, then i will.

Nothing wrong with 160. I did mine at 128 an am quite satisfied. When I imported mine about 4 years ago, HD's bigger than 80gig were prohibitively expensive (for me anyhow) which was one reason I went with 128 - quality was good while still being a fairly small file.
If I were to do it all today I would probably go with 160.

And this is another reason I shy away from mp3g's sold online. Most of them are typically 128 mp3 which is (depending on a number of variables) far less quality than 128wma (KMA). ZOOM was selling most of their mp3g's at 192, but last time I was at their site I couldn't find the downloads, so they may or may not do that anymore.
