I recently used the freedb database to import Sound Choice spotlight 8882, which is an Eric Clapton compilation. The data imported accurately, but the cd brand name changed to Eric Clapton. If I tried to change it to "Sound Choice", it reimported all as "unknown". Is this an isolated occurence?

I split this Post out to a new separate Thread as it deserves its own "life".
![]() I'd like to hear if anyone else sees this or similar problems. The logic to make FreeDB downloads fill in our fields, and yet provide all the error checking we have... is quite a challenge. We may have some work yet to do here. ![]() |

Any thoughts on keeping this database from MTU updated? When I purchased this program I had no Idea there would be so many missing discs. I hope Free DB can help. This is enough work already to get loaded.

Not only is the built-in database not up-to-date, but it has many errors and inconsistencies. Has anyone tried to import songs from Queen and they imported as Queen Latifah?

I saw that one too. It's a Sound Choice disc. Maybe we can get some fix's going with this chit chat.

Personally, I have given up on databases. I bought KJPRO and cut and paste for all the latest disks. The database Hoster has is really quite good. Most of the entries for disks over 2 years old, are correct. While there may be a few problems. Remember, Manuf. sometimes change the songs on a disk. I have 2 sets of the sound choice foundations, and Both have added, and deleted songs on the same disks.
Check chartbuster, their own database is incorrect in about 15% of the cases. It is hard for someone to continually keep it right. |

Gduns have you tried the "other" database Song List Creator from Airwer? They boast 100,000 list and free updates. Program cost is same as KJPro. Curious to know how good they are. As you say though even the manufacturers can't keep an accurate list of their own discs.

I have both, I don't like airwer. It is based in the UK, so it has a lot of cdg's we don't have. It was hit & miss most of the time. The kjpro is the best out there.

I do exactly what you do, guns, which is cut and paste from kjpro. That works well for me too.

This doesn't help matters either:
If you'll watch real close there are a lot of CDG discs that the actual order of the songs on the disc do not agree with the published info in the MFG's advertising. I read once somewhere on these forums that this was intentional to prevent database marketers from simply copying and pasting from CDG on line listings and creating an accurate database. Don't know how true that is, but it makes sense, and I've noticed on more than one occassion the disc order of songs was different from the catalog or on line listing. George Hi, Gary. |

On the sound choice site I think they list them in alphabetical order.

Weird, I've had very few problems with that sort of thing. Perhaps the songs that most sing are in order and I rarely get to experience that problem, and I play in four very different venues so my shows are not usually considered same ol's - same ol's either.

Most of the Sound Choice Spotlight discs I check FreeDB for default to Sound Choice - B Flat The Cat as Disc Brand, if you try to change to Sound Choice Spotlight, They still import as B Flat. I've just started manually typing these in.
