Mmmmmm....very odd?

Thanks guys for 3.12, looking good so far and the preview screen in the Edit songs field is brilliant for checking that a HD file has loaded ok, saving time on editing the song and artist details if it hasn't. Nice Job!

I have noticed one strange thing though. I reimporting a number of files which were screwed when I renamed them and ran the Build Songs Database, due to the bug in the last version.

Everything seems to be fine this time, except with a number of files there is no sound when I try to play them even though they loaded into Hoster without any problem.

On investigation it appears that if you open the Volume Control window, the Wave Balance slider is being reset to the minimum - so no sound output.

If you move the slider up the sound comes back, but if you restart the song it reverts back to silence????

It's only happening randomly, (not every song, or a particular file) and mostly with Legends Series.

Any come across this?

OS is Windows 2000

Cheers

The same thing happened to me twice so far. I didn't think much about it until it was posted here. It has only happen to me with the newest version.

Just some more info, in case someone in MTU wants to investigate.

If the Wave Balance slider is reduced to the minimum (and even if it is reset to play the song), it will drop back down again for the next song in the playlist, even if there was never a problem with this track before.

The only way to break this chain is to close and re-open Hoster.

I only came across this last night when loading HD tracks, but now I'm starting to get worried, can't go checking every track before it plays during a gig!

This has only started since installing 3.12, is it just me or the software?

Ok,
This makes sense now. This is a "Feature" that was added.

Here is how it is supposed to work. When you first open Hoster, whatever your Wave Slider is set at is stored in a Registry Key for Hoster. So if it is at 95% then this is what is stored. If you then go and change this to 50% while Hoster is open, to play a song, and then Close Hoster it will then set this back to 95% as this is what it had stored. So if you need to change this Wave Slider, to something that you want to keep, close Hoster Set it to the correct Setting that you wish to use. Then open Hoster. It will now hold your new Wave Slider Setting.

See if this is what you guys are running into.

Wav volume mysteriously gets set to zero

It happens on a rack computer I built for a friend of mine but never on my personal unit. Yep, the Wav volume mysteriously gets set to zero. The first time it happened he called me in a state of panic. So I rushed to his show. After checking all the wiring and stuff (cause there was no sound) we figured it out. It still happens from time to time but now we know what to look for. And I haven't figured out how to make it happen.

(As far as I remember its been happening since 3.06)

Looks like we (MTUSUPPORT) were posting at the same time. so I was able to edit this post after submitting.

FYI, he typically does not change the Wav volume. But I'll check out what you said.

Hmm..Who would have thought it saves the setting upon opening?

Bryan,

Looks like you cracked it. I went into the volume contol from the control panel with Hoster closed, and sure enough the wave balance was down to zero.

I reset it and opened Hoster, and we are back Rock n Rollin'

The only slight worry still is that I would have had no reason to ever mess with the wave balance, so I'm not sure how the problem came up in the first place. I'll keep and eye on it and see if it happens again.

Thanks for the help

Tom

The question that poppped into my mind when I read Bryan's post was pretty much the same.

How would the control get to zero in the first place ?

Good Question. I'm not really convinced yet either, because we set the wave volume to max and never touch it. Well see.

(Off subject: I have to say it. The mods in 3.12 to the most used -1 keychange are awsome!!!

This is not beyond the realm of possibilities, for instance: If you are running winamp (and presumably other audio programs) regardless of whether hoster is open or closed and you change the volume on winamp while it is playing you will change the wave slider as well. If you turn the volume slider all the way down your wave slider too will go all the way to zero.

I'm not saying this is the cause, just pointing out that other programs can effect the wave slider even if the user sets it to max and never touches it.

Sam
