Hoster Stopped Recognizing my Plextor
I have used my Plextor a few times both in microstudio and hoster since upgrading to 3.10, but for some reason last night, neither of the two programs will see the drive anymore. Windows media still sees it and works. I saw the sticky about how to reinstall the ASPI drivers, and I'll try that tonight, but why would they have just disappeared? After installing 3.10 on my laptop I had to tell Hoster to detect my CDR-RW again, something I haven't had to do in thepast after upgrading. anyone have any clues about this?

![]() The same thing happened to me. I reinstalled the aspi drivers and it still wouldn't see the drive in Hoster or Micro Studio. I had to reinstall Hoster, then everything worked right.

No real answer...only what I have experienced...maybe someone may benefit.
In my case, I had upgraded to 3.110 and, sometime later, replaced my Plextor CDR with the Plextor PX-716A (DVD Drive). I immediately had problems with, not only MTU products, but with XP Pro continuing to recognize the Drive. Just today, August 17, 2005, I went to the Plextor WEB site to look for a DRIVER, as none came with the Drive and, although a DRIVE letter was assigned and viewable in MyComputer, there was NO Listing for the DVD Drive in DEVICE MANAGER. Plextor's WEB site stated that NO DRIVER was necessary because XP already had a Plug and Play Driver. Back in DEVICE MANAGER, I selected any DEVICE and RIGHT MOUSE Clicked. I selected SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES and, after awhile, DEVICE MANAGER listed my DVD. Once listed, I checked the DVD Properties for the FIRMWARE Version, which was 1.04. I, also, selected DVD REGION and changed the CURRENT REGION to REGION 1. Then, I checked Plextor's WEB Site for any FIRMWARE Upgrades and found there was a FIRMWARE Upgrade to 1.08. I downloaded the Upgrade and Installed. So far, I have turned my Computer OFF and ON 3 times and all is showing Correctly in DEVICE MANAGER and all MTU Products. So, through all of this, I do not know if any one thing will cause XP or MTU products to permanently recognize a PX-716A or if it is a combination of the saga outlined. Logically, if the basic OS doesn't continue to recognize a DEVICE, then, one could conclude that programs working under the OS will have problems as well. |

In my case, the drive was internal in a Shuttle computer in one instance, and USB in the second instance which occured on my laptop. In both instances after updating to 3.10, the porgrams initially worked with the plextors drives, then upon shutting down the computer, and restarting, neither would even see the drives in the detect drives tool, let alone allow it's use for playing CDG's. I reinstalled hoster on my shuttle last night, and all is well again.

That is just about what happened to me. Mine was also on a Shuttle. After I reinstalled Hoster it worked fine.

Something damaged your ASPI driver. Just reinstall Hoster 3.110 again using Upgrade and it should fix the problem.
