Bad Zip Files And Max Compression Help
I found that about 5% of my zip files were zipped with max compression. They appear to import but they will not play. This creates a problem when you batch file a large amount of files. You wind up not knowing which files are actually going to play and which ones are going to give you a error message in the status field.
I would like to unzip all my files and rezip them but I need step by step help. I barley know how to use winzip and winrar but here is what I am doing to fix the files one at a time. I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO DO MORE THAT ONE AT A TIME! Since my files are in the zip format, I double click on one song. That file then gets unzipped into the UNIPPED folder. I then open that folder and highlight the two files that are there (mp3 file and a cdg file). I then right click and select add to archive using winRAR but in the .ZIP format. I now wind up with a new zip file that is less compressed and plays just fine. This works fine but there is got to be an easier way to do it. Please help me!!! |

mp3gtoolz will batch unzip. I do not know if this is still the case but in the past Hoster had a problem with any file zipped with toolz. That may no longer be the case and/or it may not be the case with newer versions of toolz. If you can use toolz you'll have to make sure all your zips are in the same folder to batch unzip/zip.
It's a free download but I don't recall the website, you'll have to do a yahoo search for it. It also requires a file be downloaded and installed from microsoft that you may or may not already have. You'll find a link for that at the website. It's been my experience that often times winzip had problems unzipping files zipped with toolz and vice versa, so toolz may or may not work for you in unzipping, so this advice may be all for naught. Now if you can at least come up with a way to unzip you can always just import as mp3g into Hoster and forget rezipping. Mp3g's import in the same manner as zipps. Sam
