Re: To Many of the same songs.
hey s.parks
my only point was, you would at least have a back up by not deleting the extra files. |

Re: To Many of the same songs.
forgive me if i step on toes or sound stupid (i'm a newbie)....
but could another parameter (flag) be added to the KMA tag that tells Hoster whether or not to include that song in the Song Book? the song could still exist on the hard drive, could be searched and played, but, be 'flagged' as not to be exported to the song book. I hope I making sense... ![]() ![]() It's late, I'll stop rambling ![]() |

Re: To Many of the same songs.
We spend the time to listen to each duplicate and only keep the "best" sounding song for the song book.
Create a second folder for you songs like "\kj_bad" that you do not want in the song book. Print a complete book out with Disk ID and Song ID. Listen to every dupilcate song in the list. (This will take DAYS/WEEKS/YEARS). When you have identified every song you do not want printed in your book you will need to open the folder containing you kma files and open in another window you kj_bad folder. Drag every song you do not want in your book to the kj_bad folder. Then you can build your song book with or without this folder. When you are going to print books build without the folder and you will not have any duplicates in you book. Then rebuild before your gig to have every song available in the show. If someone requests a different version you can search and find all versions you have not just the ones in the book. I hope this helps.... I know our books do not have any duplicate songs and they do stand out from the other KJ hosts in the area. |

Re: To Many of the same songs.
Mindonstrike,
Let me get this right, you import your singers disc that they bring to your show permanently into your Hoster program. Am I misunderstanding this point? I make this assumption because that is the only way I know of that you could be perform a seach of zzzbob, songs as you put it? ![]()

Re: To Many of the same songs.
The "flag" could simply be a Boolean(yes/no) field in Hoster's Songs.mdb
The songs themselves could also have this "Yes/No" somewhere in the tag, I wouldn't think it would take very much room in the KMA header |

I have a few singers that bring the same disks and sing the same songs off those disks week after week after week ![]() Sam |

Re: To Many of the same songs.
Permanently importing another's cdg's is illegal. That's why Hoster creates a temporary file which deletes after the track has been played.
Remember, to be legal you must be able to produce the original CDG that you own for everything imported into Hoster, and you can't. Good luck, George |
