When there is a difference between one karaoke machine and another, it has never been found to be the fault of the software. Thus, I would look for other problems.

Have you made sure all settings on your player at work are normal as to volume controls?

Lightbulb Don't Blame KHPRo

In this case, it cannot possibly be the fault of the software, because the wave file which you use to make the .cdg track doesn't undergo any modification once it has been imported into KHPRo.

Maybe as Mr. Admin says, your volume controls are set incorrectly, or it's possible that the original wave fle you used was very low in volume.

I've now made about 300 CD+G tracks and any fault in the volume is due to myself not setting the wave file to the right volume.

Yes I do blame khpro, bose. I Own several karaoke machines and one will not correctly play any cdg's I made using khpro software. I have the proof that khpro software does not work in all karaoke machines. The graphics are there but the audio is barely negligible. All my pre recorded cdg's work perfect on all my machines. Khpro has it's share of problems. I'm confident MTU is working on them. kds

Lightbulb

I have found that if you use mp3's and convert them to wav files for use with khpro the end result is pretty poor compared with using wav files taken straight from an audio cd.

I am not saying this is your problem, as I do not know the source of your wav files.

When I used cdg files made through mp3's I had to turn the volume way up on my JVC karaoke machine, which in turn produced lots of feedback and nasty bass noises through my speakers.

Thank you Brian. I Have not yet tried to make a cdg from an mp3 file. The problem first showed up when I was givin a pre recorded cd of Brenda Lee. After creating a wave file and using VoGone, I used KHPro and finished the cdg. It played in my JVC300 just fine. It played in the karaoke machine for the person I made the cdg for. It would not play in my karaoke machine at work. This is a inexpensive unit I use to varify that the graphics and audio are exceptable. I played many cdg disc on this machine with any problems. With cdg's made with MTU's software, the graphics are there but very low audio. The brand and model of the machine is called : The Singing Machine PLSMG-200. Had this unit for 3-4 years. Works very well. This unit does not like MTU's cdg's. It will playback cdg's that were copied from another pre recorded cdg using MTU's Microstudio. Thanks again. Ken

It's possible that it may be Vogone's fault as I have only had that problem with songs I've used vogone on. I have used mp3 karaoke songs and have had no problems in any player- pioneer, JVC or RSQ.

Remember Vogone removes center panned sounds not only vocals. It is possible that if most of the sounds are coming through the central channel it is going to effect the end result of any devocalization.

Vogone 2 looks good, thats just going by the screen shot options. Its looks better than any other devocalizer I have demo'd . Thats of course if it lives up to the expectations I expect.

Question KDS may have found a bug?

Folks, KDS has pointed out that on some Karaoke players, the same disc plays fine, but not on the Singing Machine player. That is a strange one.

Ken, can you send us a copy of a disc that plays low amplitude on the Singing Machine? Please include a written note with which song tracks are the offenders. If you hurry, we are still in beta testing with KHP 2.0 now.

Please send it to:
MTU
6900 Six Forks Road
Raleigh, NC 27615

We'll try to see what's up with the audio component. It sounds like a deep diagnostic to me, and we may not be able to get it in 2.00x, but we need to review it. Thanks!

bug may be in vogone

I have several songs that don't play the audio on a pioneer twin tray- all are songs i used vogone1 on. the same songs have a popping sound when playing in my JVC 22 player. I haven't tried them in my old singing machine player as it is at a friends. also when playing in my JVC I have to put it on L in the MPX function just to get a "normal" sound on some. I believe it's Vogone and not KHP that is causing this as some of the songs on the same disc are midi and mp3 karaoke audio that I used and they are fine.

More details please...

danny_g, thanks for your insight.

KDS, I have two questions for you to please answer:

1. Were the songs you can't play processed with Vogone 1?

2. Most machines have a selection for Left track only, Right only, Left playing out both, Left and Right both, Left+Right mixed, etc. What setting do you have your player on when the KHP songs won't play?

I have the same problem with my pioneer twin tray. The way I fixed it was by switching to the One Touch Mode. I don't know if it will play on other karaoke machines though.

The problem described is exactly what will happen with a file that has been through Vogone, and one attempts to use the key changer on the Karaoke player. Just another thought.

Take care

Was the original wav a STEREO file?

or was it Mono.. it is possible that it was recorded on the cd in mono. He had said it was a pre-release. Often times pre-release aren't mastered very well and thus you end up with a lot of things, or everything panned to the center channel. Which, after running through a vocal reducer (vogone, or others) would leave you with pretty much nothing.

And you need to take into account the background noise in the places you test things too.. it's usually quiter at home listening to a track you just did, versus out at a gig listening to a track.

My $.02

Exclamation Answer to a private email that is relevant

Customer request: I AM JUST LEARNING HOW TO CREATE CDG'S USING MICROSTUDIO,VOGONE AND KARAOKE HOME PRODUCER. THE CDG'S LOOK GREAT AND SOUND GREAT ON MY COMPUTER,MY PERSONAL HOME KARAOKE SYSTEM AND MY FRIENDS PERSONAL COMPUTERS AND HOME KARAOKE SYSTEMS.

IT BECOMES A DIFFERENT STORY WHEN MY CREATED CDG'S ARE PLAYED ON A PROFESSIONAL KARAOKE SYSTEM. THE CDG'S LOOK GREAT BUT THE SOUND ISN'T THERE UNTIL THE SOUND IS TURNED UP TO THE MAXIMUM PEAK ALMOST ON THE VERGE OF TREMENDOUS FEEDBACK, AT THIS POINT THE SOUND OF MUSIC IS GOOD BUT NOT LOUD AT ALL. CAN YOU TELL ME WHY THIS IS?

Admin Answer #1
1. I assume you are importing the music from an Audio CD using Microstudio.

2. Then I assume you open the .wav file in Vogone and remove the vocals. As you do this, music frequencies are also removed, lowering the amplitude of the music. If you have Vogone 2.014, there is an "Adjust Output" control that allows you to bring the amplitude back up to adjust for some of what was removed. You should move the slider control lever upward, listening as you do. Also, watch the peak meter and make sure it does not turn red. This could indicate clipping which can sound distorted.

Once you have adjusted this output control to get the loudest sound you can without going in the red, then select your output file name and write the file to the hard drive.

3. Then take your vocal reduced song and bring it into Karaoke Home Producer to add the lyrics.

Suggestion #2 - Thinking about the professional Karaoke player, you are creating a stereo song (importing from an Audio CD which is stereo). The professional Karaoke machine may be combining the two tracks to play them together (sometimes called bridged monaural, A+B mix, MUX, etc.). When they do this, the sounds in both channels that are identical but 180 degrees out of phase will cancel each other, making the sound lower amplitude. I expect that is the problem. There is a setting on the Pro system that must be changed to play your songs. Usually there are 3 to 4 settings regarding playing the channels; left, right, both, bridged/mux, etc. Try changing this control.

If it is Vogone 1. I don't know if Vogone 2 has the same problem as I don't have that version yet. Won't get it until I get my Intel up and running. I still need to find a case and a Hard drive.

Reduced audio on KHP produced MP3 files was mentioned above. I'd swear somewhere in MTU's material they said something about high compression MP3 converted to .WAV have could have a lower audio output. Could be a double hickey when also treated with vogone.

Danny, I had the same results with either version of Vogone. It made it impossible to use the key change feature on both my component rig and the old Ventura all in one. Almost no audio whatsoever.I believe I also saw somthing to that effect somewhere in the MTU material. Either that or I'm starting to dream about this stuf.

Take care,

George

Deorge what cpu does your computer have? MTU has stated that Neither Vogone 1 or Vogone 2 work with an AMD K6 machine.
That could also be contributing to the problem.
