Cool Database Questions

Just recieved my Hoster 2.0 and as expected it is awsome. The folks at MTU can certainly take a bow for the upgrades and ease of installation compared to past versions. I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find in the manual though if someone has any suggestions. How do you end up with Duets, in the "Duets" folder in the database, or "Country" or whatever. I see the program automatically does the Titles, and Artist Versions, but how do we end up with the other folder? Next Question: As the data base becomes more current, how do we download it from MTU? I have seen no such link on your site, maybe I missed it. Any info anyone might have would be helpful.

Thanks

Steve Parks

Steve:

There are two fields in the MainData table of the master database which are flags for Country and Duet songs. None of the songs in the current master database are flagged as Country or Duet at the present time.

While the current master database is a major improvement over the original database in the Hoster 1.X versions, it is still not what I would like it to be and what it will eventually be. There are still duplicate song titles and artists due to the various ways the original database developers listed the songs and artists and also due to the difference in spelling in the songs and artists.

I am still working on standardizing the song titles and artists in the master database. Eventually, there will be only one unique spelling for a song or artist. I'm not quite sure how MTU will handle the update to the Duet and Country fields. Personally, I don't see a need for these flags. I think that if we're going to put a flag in a database, then we should flag all the genres, not just country.

How about having the flag set in the header of the .kma file such as I mentioned in the New features forum:

http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2203

this way we could add our own flags as we see fit, and still keep the main database intact.
