import HD files

it seems now that i upgraded to V5 all my zip (mp3g) files have unknown artist.

actually it didnt put any of my HD files in the database.

is there a way to re-import zip files with the correct header without duplicating them ?? or do i have to delete all the KMH files and restart ??

If they were on an external hard drive, was that connected at the time that it built the new database ?

Did you ever edit through Access instead of Hoster's Edit dialog ?

I think by using access to edit things causes a lot of problems when it comes to using the rebuild database as anything that was edited in that is wiped out as soon as you rebuild.
Your question, would it be easier to start over is a hard one to answer as it could take a lot of work.

Just try this first: From the menu Import Songs button select Build Database, from the list of folders in the bottom left window highlight the folder containing your zip files and press the rescan folder button. If they are in several folders do them one at a time then see if they still show as unknown artist.
I don't hold much hope of it solving your problem but worth a try.
Maybe Dale or someone else will think of an answer before you try starting from scratch.
Just deleting the kmh files can cause problems because hoster still thinks they are there, that is why you should use the edit multiple dialog to delete files, then it registers in Hoster, if you just delete files using explorer this can make them keep showing up as already imported when you try re-importing.

Re: import HD files

I agree with Roy. Your best bet would be to delete them all from the Edit Songs utility and then reimport them. That should go very fast using the import as KMH. That should also pick up the filename titles correctly too. If they are in multiple folders do them one at a time and check after importing.
