ATI has "New Driver" for Direct X 8.1+
If you have the recommed ATI Card, ATI Radeon 7000, ATI

Radeon 7000 Video Card APG vs PCI
I have tried both in my computer, Hp Pavilian 600mz PIII, and
both work very well. No SLOW text. I believe that the PCI CARD is smoother than the AGP CARD. ALSO I am using the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Card and it is excellant.
