Unhappy Problem Downloading Program. Help!

Hello MTU,

I recently purchased the upgrade and opted for internet delivery. In due course, the download e-mail arrived, but there was something wrong somewhere last night and I couldn't download the file.

I left it until today and have tried again, but when I click on the link it opens a pages which says...

"This download link has been used up or is invalid. Contact MTU for instructions."

I haven't downloaded the program once yet, but I had clicked the link twice on previous occasions when I encountered an error.

What do I do now?

Bose,

I did not immediately send you a new link because there was clearly something wrong on your end that would do the same thing again. We evaluated your downloads, which I emailed to you.

It appears the reason you did not get your software is your browser (AOL?), and probably a download accelerator program you have running. It submitted requests so fast that our web site could not respond.

Also, if you are using AOL to do this, you may not get the whole file downloaded, as this is sometimes reported as an AOL default setting limitation. They do this to try to protect less technical users.

Before you attempt to download again, turn off your download accelerator. If you don't know how to do this, or that you even have one running, shut down all programs that you have running in background. I don't remember how to do that in Win98, but your Help should tell you.

My advice... use Microsoft Internet Explorer you probably already have to do the downloads, not AOL.

When you are ready, click the download link in the new email you will receive shortly.

Wink Cheers Admin

Thanks a lot, I'll let you know the progress. I'm not aware of any download accelerator I've got running, maybe it's running on its own.

Smile (Politely) Still waiting...

Just letting you know, I am still waiting for the new download e-mail to get my program. I'm not getting impatient or anything, but just letting you know.

Angry Still Waiting!

I am STILL waiting for my new download e-mail which has never arrived since the first one failed and you sent me a long e-mail explaining why.

I don't like to appear pushy, but this is taking too long. I have posted the fact that a second download e-mail has never appeared, but nobody has sent another one.

Can you not just e-mail me the program file? It's now more than a week since I bought the upgrade, but I still haven't got it.

It was sent on May 9th, and again on May 16th

Bose, don't know why you didn't get it on May 9th. It was sent.

I have sent it again at 9:35AM EST May 16, 2002. Post under this thread if you don't receive it.

Please, do not opening a new thread again on this problem. That only makes more work for us tracking the problem.

Why can't we simply email you the download? We have a semi-automated web site. We have a database that must be updated with each purchase, email sent and download delivered. That is how we could tell you exactly what the problem was earlier.

As we further automate, without this we would eventually go out of business from the massive work load of customer support, from problems exactly like the one you are having. When we are automated, you will be able to come to your record and generate your own link without our involvement. Now, won't that be better? Thus, we have to keep up to date now who owns what.

Wink E-mail has arrived...

The e-mail has now arrived. Many thanks for the swift answer.

I have inserted it into Internet Explorer once and it didn't work, so I am taking things very carefully so I don't use up my 8 goes.

I am looking back at the e-mail you sent me about download accelerators etc.

Smile I'm sorry, but I'm still having problems...

Unfortunately I'm still having problems downloading.

I have so far used 3 attempts up out of 8 and none of them have been successful. I did as you suggested and looked into Windows and AOL to turn off the download accelerator. Nothing found.

When I click on that link, I get a blank web page with a picture of a little coloured box in the corner.

I don't want to use up any more of my 8 chances, so I'll have to try and let someone else download it for me maybe and then burn it to a CDR.
