Microstudio does not install

I am downloading programs to my new computer. When I try to install Microstudio, it comes up with... Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. Does anyone know what to do???

I would say it was one of two things. You got a bad download or if you got an error 1706 (I think thats it) then it loaded, but says it didn't finish. Do you see the program file in the Microstudio folder under Program files? If not then download it again and try again.

If I click the plus (+) on the left of Program, there is no Microstudio. If I click the word 'Program', then you can find three (3) Microstudios. Microstudio 4006, 420 and 421setup.exe. I have tried to install all three of them and received the same message. I even tried going into another external hard drive and executing a start up of the three, but the same message appears. I'm afraid if I purchase the new version of Microstudio, it won't work. The new computer I purchased is 32 bit. I know the new program is 64 bit, so I'm not sure it would work anyway, or if it would even mater. If you have any other ideas, please let me know.

It would be under C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Microstudio.
Microstudio has always worked with 32 bit systems it is just the last version that working with 64 bit has been added. Any version will still work with a 32 bit system.
Is this a Windows 7 operating system?
I would recommend you download from the Support section a new copy of the last one you have.
What exactly does the error message say?

Under C:\Program Files\Micro Technology, I only have Hoster and Keyrite. I have Windows XP. I downloaded from MTU and tried to install, but the same thing happens. It stops about two thirds of the way through the install and then a box comes up saying... Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close, we are sorry for any inconvenience. Do you know of any other programs out there that I could use in place of Microstudio?

Is this after the program sent your information to MTU?

Ernie do you really think I would recommend another program over Microstudio or that MTU would let me do that? No there are no programs that can replace Microstudio.

This comes up while it's transmitting to MTU. As far as another program.... It would kill me not to be able to use Microstudio. I think it's an awesome program. BUT!!, if I can't install it, then I'm going to have to replace it. I just don't know what to do to get it installed.

It sounds to me like it isn't transmitting or the information you are transmitting is wrong. Make sure MTU.com is listed in the exceptions for the Firewall. It should be since you already have Hoster and Keyrite installed. Go to the Control panel and click on Firewall then go to the Exceptions tab.

Did you do all the Custom Microsoft updates from their website? I am wondering since you said this was a new computer.

Yes I did. Oh, I was able to find another cdg burning program. Compared to Microstudio......IT SUCKS!! Microstudio is still the winner in all catagories. The only thing I can say about the one I found is... it beats not having anything at all.
Dale, I just thought of something!!!! Do you know if I would be allowed to put Microstudio on my wifes desktop????

You can have each license for Microstudio on 2 computers.

Another possibility could simply be a corrupted download.This was happening quite frequently a few years back.

Most common, but not the only cause was servers promoting fast downloads using download accellerators.

Sometimes it just happens.Try another download. Won't be any worse off if it's not the problem

Try this, Last ditch, but you said your under Xp right?

Try Right clicking on the mstudio421setup.exe file, then left click on Properties.

Click on Compatibility Tab, and turn it on. Try setting it to Windows Xp, if thats an option. I just did this on a customers computer, but theres was Windows 7, 64 bit, and it would not install with the same error your getting.

No clue why, as it should work fine. Let me know what you find.

Just tried what you suggested. It only shows Windows 95, 98, NT and 2000. There is no XP.
