Vob & Mpg not playing on ext. desktop
Is anyone or has anyone had a problem with .vob & .mpg files not playing on the extended desktop in Hoster? When I pull the window over to the main computer screen and play the files, they show up. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance! |

Re: Vob & Mpg not playing on ext. desktop
Chad I think there have been some past threads on this with fix actions. Off the top of my head I cannot remember what it was. I'll try to figure it out again and get back to you later tonight.

thank you... I have had issues with this for awhile now but have been playing .avi and .mp4 which work fine but would like to be able to play my entire collection.
Thanks! |

Re: Vob & Mpg not playing on ext. desktop
Only thing I can think of is you may not have current codecs for those two formats though I am not sure that is correct.
What operating system are you using and what version of Hoster?

Re: Vob & Mpg not playing on ext. desktop
I see one possibility in that list. The Nvidea GT 230M driver. A lot of people have had problems with the latest drivers for this card. Go to Nvidea and get one of the older drivers for this card and see if that doesn't improve video display.
I would also get the latest K-lite codecs.

Ok Chad. I think I was right. Try reading this thread and see if the link that MTUSupport has in his post is what is needed.

1. The Graphics card memory management is not set up to perform on the extended desktop. If you start a video in Hoster's Show Display, then click and drag it to the second monitor, the video stops playing if the memory management (Graphics card driver/hardware) cannot transfer to the second monitor. 2. If you move the Show Display to the second monitor, THEN play the video, if the Graphics card can play on the second monitor it will. If not, get another Graphics card. 3. What Graphics card are you (Chad) running and what software driver version is installed? We are doing some deep diagnostics in our code, and are finding that recent Windows upgrades are more sensitive to: 1. How many folders deep a file is stored 2. How long the path name is to the file 3. How many files are in the same folder We are working on extending our code support, but... it also is limited by how much memory you have in your computer. An XP system with 1GB may not cut it any more. Don't know for sure, but we're testing this also to make an educated SWAG. The recommendations we can make right now are to; 1) keep your files in SHORT named folders not more than 4 levels down, and 2) have at least 2GB RAM in your computer, NOT shared with video (i.e. Graphics card must have its own video memory). More to come... |

OK, I did. Are you addressing my post to Chad above? I'm confused by your answer. Please state it clearly, not implying something I must "read between the lines".

My bad for not going into more detail. Since Chad is up and running now with the fix he and I will need to keep in mind what you and the engineers have recommended in the event we are not able to play .VOB files. I might be prudent to add the below to the FAQ's with regards to the issue. Quote: The recommendations we can make right now are to; 1) keep your files in SHORT named folders not more than 4 levels down, and 2) have at least 2GB RAM in your computer, NOT shared with video (i.e. Graphics card must have its own video memory).
