Some of the "problems" with Explorer 7 are a further attempt on Microsoft's part to take over our pc's under the guise of offering us more protection.

Here's the experience I had with it....

Bob, I haven't seen any problems with it in relation to any of the MTU programs.......yet. Since I don't have any midi files then I think I'll keep mine at 7. However, I am not going to upgrade it on my show machines just to be on the safe side. I feel like George does.....Big Brother is trying to control our PCs.

I have bought Hoster and Microstudio four times with MTU, along with Hoster laptop and all their software and I have to say that I am at my witts end with MTU and their registration ritual. I paid all this money with MTU and yet I have to pray before I try to reinstall these programs cause one could never know if it would install. Really getting pissed off!!! I just need my **** registration reset so I can do my gigs. Get my registration reset guys! I already lost business for christmas and now New year is coming and I have lots more gigs to do.

I don't mean this to be a complaint, but I am new to Hoster. I have made a few posts on here, but I too, have a lot of questions that I can not find answers to and I don't know where to look. Some of the questions from posters get very nice and cordial answers. Others are less so. I feel somewhat intimidated to make a posting here with a question that I am not sure how to ask. I see over and over again "read the manual", it is in the manual.

I printed the manual and I read it as much as my time will permit, but the manual is full of hypertext which is not of much use in printed form. So I go back to the on screen manual. I have always been better at understanding hard copies than screen print.

On the website, I find words, terms, and abbreviations that are not in the manual. I know you guys who have been using Hoster for eons have grown up with it. Us new people are scratching our heads and spending a lot of time trying to figure it out.

Things like "resets". I still am lost on them.

At the present, I have an old E-machines desktop which my first download went onto. I was thinking that I would download to it and learn the program while my laptop was being shipped to me. My intent was to make the new laptop the primary Hoster control. Now, I am thinking of a second smaller and less powerfull laptop to be my primary and
de-registering this here old E-machines box so my grandkids can play with it, and then make the present laptop my standby.

I was under the impression that a person could have the program on any two machines at any one time providing, only one of these could be used as the show machine and a second could be used as a backup. As I understand it from postings tonight we are really supposed to be limited to the first two original computers. But with special resetting, which I know niothing about, we can install it on a new computer.

I originally thought that de-registering a computer as a hosting unit would be done over the internet the same as when it was registered. Seems as though a little talk between computers could erase the permissive and return a computer to the Demo version of software with all its limitations. After that time,a successive computer could be set up.
I
Also when I reload Windows, I don't call MS for a new number. I load it in and send the registration and it goes through. I am sure that it reads the internal numbers and makes sure all is OK.

That gets me down to the point of why I posted. Where does one find the rules and instructions about "resetting", such as who and how to contact? Someday soon I am going to want to do it.

Thanks, Phil

I have more to questions to follow...

What I do is go to the page that allows you to submit a ticket for a registration reset, if necessary. Then I explain my circumstance, and ask for a reset so I can install on a new computer.

N181RV, Welcome aboard!

We are sorry there is no clear explanation on installation, removal and reinstalling. There are things we don't want EVERYONE to know, so some things are addressed when you have a need to know.

Bryant is correct. When you need our help at MTU, go to the Support Center and create a Support Ticket. Explain clearly who you are so we can identify you; first, last name, email you ordered with, product and version# you need help with. Then explain your situation and what you want us to do. We will take care of it at our web site so you can install on a new system, if that is your need.

Please understand this is all required because of Internet Theft. We try hard to hide our security from honest folks like you, but if you go beyond installing on 2 computers, you will need our help. We have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars creating the secuity we have, which is one of the best on the Internet... for us and for our users.

We are trying to move to a new level, but we must reconfigure our web site, and that takes a LONG time to do and test before we bring it on-line to be 100% working. Bear with us.

I'm not picking on you, but I need to close this Thread as we are way off topic. If you have more questions, please create a new Thread by clicking the button in the Forum to do that.
