Registration Support Sucks!!! - Your unrealistic demands are the problem!
I needed to reinstall Hoster and Microstudio on two new laptops I just bought cause I sold two older laptops that had Hoster on, and couldn't cause of the same **** registration problems! I have submitted four tickets in the registration support and still I can't install Hoster nor Microstudio. This service really sucks!!! I have bought Hoster and Microstudio four times with MTU, along with Hoster laptop and all their software and I have to say that I am at my witts end with MTU and their registration ritual. I paid all this money with MTU and yet I have to pray before I try to reinstall these programs cause one could never know if it would install. Really getting pissed off!!! I just need my **** registration reset so I can do my gigs. Get my registration reset guys! I already lost business for christmas and now New year is coming and I have lots more gigs to do.

Nowhere on the MTU website will you find any kind of sales pitch or promise that you can transfer the license on a whim. In fact it specificly says 1 Show computer and 1 backup computer.
The fact that MTU is willing, out of the goodness of their heart, to reset your registrations (In essence GIVING you another 2 computer license since their is no way to verify you wiped Hoster or Microstudio off you old computers)Only points up the awesome customer service they provide. The fact that you got rid of your old computers before making sure Hoster was succesfully running on your new computers was a mistake of your doing not MTU's. Why should MTU be obligated to fix your mistake post haste? |

Just curious as I asked for a reset recently then needed another on a new backup, and asked for another reset. Are you saying I did not need to ask for that second reset? |
2 more bryant is my guess.
aarrgee, thats a good way to get banned from this place :e |
Not to mention posting after 5:00 PM Eastern Time won't get anything done until tomorrow anyway.

Well one way to partially correct this problem is to have the uninstall program take you to the website and credit you with it so you can reinstall right away. You’ll still have some issues with failed components on computers but if support only had to deal with failed parts and not upgrades, I’m sure that would cut down response time significantly.
I purchased a new laptop and forgot I installed Hoster on a desktop to help convert cdg’s and since have formatted and upgraded the operating system on that computers drive so I’m waiting also for a reset on my registration but only have sent 1 email to support. I need to send my old laptop out for warranty service before February as that is when its 3 year contract expires. Anyway good luck <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urnhttp://forum.mtu.com/ |

Not Happy!
:m It's so easy for you guys to say such nice comments about MTU but if you were in a dilema like mine around Christmas Time, I'm sure you guys would not be happy. Believe me I Love MTU products but this registration thing really sucks. I mean if you purchase a software, you should uninstall and reinstall it whenever you need to and with no problems. Well excuse me for complaining!! Someone said that my comments was a good way to get banned from the forum? Well I am not happy and I had to let it be known. So you are telling me that I cannot complain in here about the service? Well where else. I just can't stay quiet and just take what I think is bad service. This has got to change somehow!!

Have you checked the status of your tickets to see if Support has answered them? |
I just finnished filling out a ticket.. thanks Dale
it sounds like you have had this issue before so selling 2 computers before having your new ones up and running is like wiping your but and then taking a dump. kinda like not thinking the problem thru. i have a gig friday and i would love to use this new one but i dont think that will happen, but i wont send it in until this one is setup |
Got Registration Reset Finally!
Yes my 4 tickets were answered today what a bloody relief. Got my registration reset. Still Not happy cause I know I will have to go through this whole thing over again. What an inconvenience!!:m

What may need to change is the way you complain. Try a little tact and a little better use of the English language.:g If you had backup CDG's, you were never out of a gig, right? |

This information of course is part of MTU/Hoster security so MTU may just leave us to our speculations. *********************************** Quote:

Aarggee,
I am collecting all of the data to post into this Thread about your Registrations. I will have an answer for you in a day or two about this. As it stands, you have Installed the software every month for the last year, multiple times each month except for in May of 06, so this is your problem. I will have all of the Hard facts for you posted here, when I finish digging through the history of your installs and computers. As to your complaining and whining, I am sorry but your tickets were posted while we were closed for Christmas. The ticket that you had posted back on the 19th was answered on the 20th and you never responded until the 27th, so I am sorry that you did not try it sooner. This was your responsibilty, to make sure your shows would go on during the hollidays while we were closed. You should have also made sure that you had your software installed and running on your new laptop, before getting rid of your old ones. By the way, did you remove the software from your old ones? |
this is what happened. I had two buyers for two older computers I had hoster on, so I jumped at the opportunity, didn't want to lose the sale. Anyway, Upon noticing that you had answered my email and said that the problem had been fixed, I made sure I uninstalled all MTU software I had on both computers and sold them. My new Dell computers (arrived late)came in after I sold the computers but I thought that I would have no problem since I was already told that my registration were reset. When I finally got my new computers from Dell, then I noticed that the registration were not reset as told. Then I was in trouble and quickly entered another ticket. I was not answered until yesterday Wednesday. Lost a couple gigs but not all.
Reason why, I have uninstalled Hoster and Microstudio so many times is because i have three KJ's working for me and they somehow always get to messing up the OS. So I would just install windows over on the computers. Sometimes I would just change the OS from Home to MCE like I did recently. Anyway I have recently installed Acronis on all my computers that would enable me to set the OS to a time everything is working perfect. But now I'm worried about installing mtu software all over again when Vista arrives. I surely will put Vista on all my computers. To answer somebody's comment about "their is no way to verify you wiped Hoster or Microstudio off you old computers" Well I surely would not give away a software I paid $200.00 for. Besides I don't even want my competetors to find out about Hoster. Everyone around here still using CDs and players. Anyway my problem has been resolved and I'm happy about that. Sorry if I offended anyone but at the time I was really frustrated. Happy Holidays. |
Bryan,
i have checked on my support ticket and there is no open ticket. is this normal or do i need to resubmit? |

However... your actions are not acceptable to MTU. We will not continue removing your registrations EVERY MONTH. You need to discipline your KJs and find a permanent way to stop the need to reinstall everything. There is NO OTHER answer. Internet software theft is rampant and unlike physical goods, can spread worldwide in a matter of hours! A few years ago, 40,000 copies of our DNoise software were distributed off a French web site in uner 30 days. Without our security... we would not be here for you to communicate with, or to continue improving our products. MTU WOULD BE GONE. We have made it so that you can run your shows without problems. However, when your business model changes (selling computers), that is not our responsibility or our problem. |

The best solution to your situation is to have identical setups for your employees and have a cloned drive to restore their systems. Also make user accounts for them without administrator privileges so they cant mess things up in the first place. Put your kma files on a different drive or at least a separate partition. I’m not a big fan of system restore, I’ve seen it work and not work, but create a restore point when the system has been fully setup and updated and back it up to the computer and another drive or media and cross your fingers and pray if you need to use it. Other thoughts, antivirus software, Norton is a resource hog so it bogs down your computer, also I’ve seen it do more damage than good and you have to pay for it. Personally I use Antivir. You can get it at www.free-av.com it’s been running on our 7 computers since their beginnings and never have had any virus issues at all. Maybe you need to install a key logger to see what there doing to mess up your system. If all your systems are different then you will have to create a set of restore disks cd’s or dvd’s for each system, so keep your c:/ drive small. Hope this helps. |

Just my opinion. |
I believe a couple of guys have tried Vista and did have some problems with some functions not working, so I wouldn't upgrade to Vista until MTU says it is compatible.
