Now I am really confused!

Have you ever used a USB sound card with that laptop for Hoster or always used the internal sound card output through the headphone jack?

I recently had to reload my test machine from scratch. When I first set it up it chose an ATI sound card. Then I had to go back load the correct driver for the card. After I did I had loaded Hoster before I deleted the ATI card from the system. Hoster recognized for a while that I had a second card. After I disabled the ATI card, Hoster no longer shows the card, but will also show and play from search. However it is using the primary card which will cause problems with the song from the playlist.

I will talk to Admin about this as it should not be happening. If a second card is removed or disabled then Hoster should not be trying to use the primary for the search while it is playing from the playlist.

Walt, don't complain...yours is working correctly.

Actually, I wasn't complaining and I know you are kidding. I learned a long time ago the computers were haunted!

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

I'm sorry I brought this up but, I am reporting a performance issue.

As it will...lock up your search window; allow 2 Hoster.exe to run simultaneously and cause CPU usage to remain at 50%.

It doesn't matter if the PREVIEW in the search window was designed to play song all the way or not, the issue is that it DOES and then it F#@$'s up Hoster.

All I am trying to do is report ANY bug(s) that I find, whatever MTU decides to do with the information is their perogative.

How many times did we have to report out of sync issues before they(MTU) figured it out the issue and corrected it.

A USB Sound card is inexpensive and allows the singer to preview a song they want to sing, and while they listen your show continues. You may forget that the preview was occurring. This is when the problem starts, if you perform another song search, it will search but, then you cannot select any song and cannot correct by closing Search window and reopening.

Anyway, hopefully MTU can determine the issue and either resolve it or automatically stop the preview after 60 seconds of start.

I dunno, again their call.

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

Out of curiosity I pulled out my backup computer; HP Laptop with """VISTA""", and looked in the search window. Sure enough the preview play button is there but not on my main computer. When I selected a song to preview and press the play button, no audio. When I pressed it again to stop, Hoster crashed. I don't know if this is related or not but from the playlist, I started playing songs in auto mode while I was busy doing something else and about every 15 minutes or so, I noticed the audio stopped; went to investigate and had pop up message that Hoster stopped responding. Rebooted Hoster and started over and about every 15 minuts or so, the same thing would happen. I have never had another second audio card in this computer and it is a nervia (not sure of the spelling) audio card. I mention this for Admin's sake because this may be something that needs to be addressed.

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

To let you all know, MTU is taking a look at the preview play in the Search to try to find a fix for all of these problems you have mentioned. Hopefully there will be a quick fix release for this within a few days.

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

Dale,

While they're at it, ask them to look at changing the order of the buttons that you use to add tracks. I closed the screen three times before I noticed the first button now says "Add & Close." I was used to just clicking on "Add" and leaving the screen open (which I do throughout the show).

IMHO, it should be "Add Track" first and then "Add & Close" second... I have no reason during my show to "Add & Close!"

On another note, my "Hoster Stopped Working" bug has returned. During my show last night, it happen three times...

Oh well...

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

Considering the next big changes to Hoster coming up the button order won't be a problem. Can't say anymore than that right now. The next release (4.32) is just to fix these errors that have crept into the preview play in the Search. Should be out next week unless something doesn't go right.

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

Just found out today, i tried the same on 4.22. The same problem exists on VCD(mpeg) and CDG kmh files. So, that features was added but never work on these kind of files. My Quad Regcodes was good up to 4.22 and I have to pay upgrade just for the next version which is 4.31 but it also doesn't work. I have another Duo Code which is up to 4.31 and good up to Dec. 2010. Just wondering if I will get those Fixed features free for those License I have. Or have to pay upgrade fee to get the fix.

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

Should be out early theis coming week. You are right that KMH files were never added for that feature.

Re: Hoster 4.31 issue - preview song in SEARCH window

That is correct. KMH addition is not really a fix as it requires new code to be added. It was a little more involved to do that in the short time allotted. So that will be added in next release.

Yep. We have already duplicated our Hoster source codes to create version 5.x. Since we now have to add any changes into both the "left behind" 4.x code and the new 5.0 evolving code, we are only adding new code features into 5.00.

As to the "Add and Close" comment above, this was added for users who don't keep this dialog open.

In Hoster 5.00 we are making the Search (now called SONG) and Singer dialogs vertical and dock-able to the sides of the Playlist control screen. We compacted both for the purpose of ADDING songs to the Playlist, including click and drag and drop being possible. A Tools menu "Singers database" command will allow maintaining that database, including most of the current controls in the Singers dialog.

Re: Hoster 4.31 - preview song in SEARCH window - Fixed in 4.32

In case anyone is interested, in Hoster version 4.32 on my HP laptop with Vista, in the search window, the play preview buttons are still there. They are not grayed out but do nothing when clicking on them. I thought they weren't supposed to even show if not running two sound cards? I have one sound card and this issue existed in 4.31 which I already reported in an earlier post. If 4.32 was supposed to fix this it didn't, at least not on the HP Vista computer I have.

Since it won't do anything then it did prevent disrupting a song playing in the playlist. Try going to Audio Controls under Tools and see if it will list any sound card for use in the Search Preview. If not then it stopped the problem.

There is no sound card listed under the Search Preview. I just don't understand why the buttons show up in the Search Window since I don't have a second sound card. Like I said, it doesn't show up in my other computer. It isn't a big deal. I just posted this because I understood that
4.32 was suppoes to fix this and I wanted to report that it did not. It isn't hurting anything, just a little agrivating but I can live with it.

Thanks,

Walt

Walt, there is a lengthy discussion somewhere in the forum about Hoster recognizing "virtual" drives you may want to read. For now just ignore them, since you don't use them anyway.

When this was first fixed and we tested it mine still showed up to, however by opening Audio Control and clicking ok, then they went away. Did I forget to tell you to click OK? Oops!!
