Hoster 4.31 - preview song in SEARCH window - Fixed in 4.32
 

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this or not...

When previewing a song in the SEARCH window, if you let it play to the end, it does not reset the SEARCH window and also doesn't let you select another song in the list, locks all functions except Search(Match).

The STOP button is still displayed. The PLAY button never returns.

Can perform searches but, will not allow selection of item in list. If close SEARCH window and attempt to reopen it may or may not open but, will be in same state.

If close Hoster and re-open, you are fine but, Task Manager CPU usage remains at 50%. Then noticed on Task Manager that there were 2 Hoster.exe running but, only 1 was actually open. Closed hoster and then ended task on other hoster.exe in Task Manager, re-opened hoster and everything was fine.

I'll attempt to attach screen shot of Hoster closed but, still on Task Manager and Hoster reopened with 2 hoster.exe on Task Manager and CPU at 50%.

Maybe a bug but I wouldn't expect many to play a song all the way through in preview.

It is rare that I would play a song all the way through in the edit page so I don't know if I have tried this yet in 4.31. I will and see if I have a problem. I do use the song edit page often. Everytime I import a new disk I go to the edit page and start the playback for each song on the disk. When I see that it is the correct song, I advance to the next until I go through the entire disk. This works fine without any problems. I do this to make sure that the song listed on the disk is actually the same song after finding to many times in the past that it was a different song than listed. Adds much extra time to importing but saves embarassment later on. I will check your issue and see if it occurs on my setup and get and post.

I just tried to duplicate your problem and I could not. Each song plays through. I can then click on the next song and it plays fine, etc. I don't know what can be causing this on your machine. Sorry.

Try running a "Registry Cleaner" & see if that helps.

This does NOT occur in the EDIT Song option but, in the SEARCH window and then select a song and click the PLAY button.

I do run a registry cleaner and a Registry Defrag program regularly.

AGAIN, this is not the EDIT songs issue, it occurrs on the SEARCH window.

See attached screen shot, hope this helps to clear uo what I am reporting.

Yes, I knew that you meant the Search/Preview. I haven't used that feature yet - so I didn't know what else to suggest that might help.:ssorry

No problem, WaltR kept indicating EDIT songs and wanted to make it CLEAR that it is not in the EDIT songs.

Thanks, but I believe that MTU will need to look into and make corrections.

I have reviewed this issue several times and unless I am just clueless (which is a strong possibility) I can't figure out what you are doing here. The reason being is that when I do a search, I don't have the same window that you are displaying. I can not preview any song in the search window option. Maybe I have not done something correctly to activate this but I am running the latest version 4.31 and there is no preview option in the search mode on my computer. Now I am really curious. How is this option activated?

Its activated Walt when you highlight a song in your search list. Until then the button is greyed out.

Aznetbear - the only thing I have found is if I click the stop after the song is over it starts playing again and then click stop again and it stops and ungreys the selection area.
For what this is intended for I don't think it should be a problem because you should not have to play a song completely through to determine if it is the right or wrong version of the song the singer is looking for. Also unless you have two sound cards then you couldn't use this anyway.
I am not saying it isn't a problem that will need to be looked at next version, but I just don't see this as that big a problem.

Let me make sure I am talking about the same thing. From the main screen of hoster there is a "search button" next to the "singers button". When I hit the search button it opens a screen that allows me to put in a song name or other criteria. I have no button to preview the song once it is called up, grayed out or other wise. There is no button as shown in the example of Aznetbear's post. Am I in the wrong area?

No you are in the right area. I don't know why you don't have it, other than maybe you got a bad download. Try downloading it again and re-install.

The Play and Volume control only appears IF you have a second audio card. Otherwise, it's not gray, it's missing... by design.

I got to thinking about this. I'm not sure why a preview screen is needed in the search window but I think I remember some asking for it. The only reason I can figure to have this set up for second audio card is I assume you wouldn't be able to run a preview from this screen while the audio was playing from the playlist screen using one card. I assume if this is the case and the song is playing from the playlist and you preview a song from the search window using a second audio card, you would have to be doing this through head phones. I think there should be an option to enable the primary audio card to work in this screen if it is not being used from the playlist screen. Otherwise one would have to load the song or songs to preview from the search window to the playlist window as we used to and have to do now without the second audio card. I also couldn't find where it states a second card is needed for this feature but it is possible I over looked it.

Actually you don't have a preview "screen" but instead it allows you to preview the audio to make sure it is the correct version. There are some songs that are crossovers from country to pop or pop to country. They are not the same though they have the same title.
Yes headphones would be the option to use this so it doesn't interfere with current singer.
Most computers have one built-in audio card and will accept a second one easy enough. I use my added card as my primary because it is better, but can use the built-in card for the search preview.

I don't understand it, but I don't have a second audio card and it works fine for me.

If I read your Post right, it shouldn't...

The button is gray and then once I highlight a song, the button turns green and I can play the audio and it works fine...
