One Quick Question Pleeze

How many past hoster upgrades does everyone keep on their computer? I have all the way back to 4.0 i think, maybe even farther back. Not counting the ones mtu has emailed me to fix a few problems i was having. Do i really need all these past versions? How many upgrades should i safely keep?

I have everyone back to 2.011. I'm a pack rat

At the very least you need to hang on to the current setup file. Keeping anything else is just at your discetion.

George as Sam said it is up to you how many you want to keep. Only thing I can add is if you are using and "Upgrade" of version 4.xx then you need to keep the last version 3.xx that you have in case you need to re-install from scratch and then just the version installed. Many who do download the updates correctly and save them keep at least a couple versions back in case something goes drastically wrong.
Sam (Mindonstrike) and myself are Beta Testers so we tend to keep everything we download for testing.

how about the first rule of the lost club? because i'm lost with that statement??
Must be an inside joke....

But thank you dale and sam so very much for your advice on how many to keep. I have all of them since i started using hoster. Ok..i think i will cut the herd back to just the last two upgrades. I think that should be good enough.

I know mtu tries to make their software as user friendly as possible. Man do i appreciate that. But just keep in mind guys there are still a few of us not into this new digital generation. It wasn't all that long ago i couldn't even turn on a computer. I'm a hillbilly with a 8th grade education. I wish i had the intelligents you fella's have. But god didn't grace me with smarts..just good looks hahaha

So once again, i would like to thank you all for sticking with me while i attempt to learn this stuff. Especially you dale, sam, and billy. I'm holding my own, and i think really making progress using this software for my shows. No way, could i have gotten this far without your continued help and advice. Thank you fella's so very much. Mtu and your help make my show flow right along smoothly..

Sorry, I thought everyone had seen this movie.
Quoted from http://www.gradesaver.com/fight-club...ltural-impact/ aricle

In 2003, Fight Club was listed as one of the "50 Best Guy Movies of All Time" by Men's Journal.[92] In 2004 and 2006, Fight Club was voted by Empire readers as the ninth and eighth greatest film of all time, respectively.[93][94] Total Film ranked Fight Club as "The Greatest Film of our Lifetime" in 2007 during the magazine's tenth anniversary.[95] In 2007, Premiere selected Tyler Durden's line, "The first rule of fight club is you do not talk about fight club," as the 27th greatest movie line of all time.[96] In 2008, readers of Empire ranked Tyler Durden first on a list of the 100 Greatest Movie Characters.[97]

So when Dale revealed that Sam and him were beta testers, That line came to mind. It's not a secret, I just thought it was funny. Not so much now, though. They just aren't as funny when you have to explain them.

Back to the topic at hand.
I, too am a pack rat. I keep every version, betas included. Heck, I still have 5.25 floppies and a drive laying around. Never know when I'll need Dos 5.0 (best thing from Microsoft to date) or windows 3.0

Dale's point about keeping the last 3.x version you have should BE FOLLOWED.

Currently, if you buy an Upgrade, you must have the Prior version (3.x if upgrading to 4.x) installed so the Upgrade install will find it. This also "locks" that 4.x Upgrade to your 3.x RegCode so you can upgrade your second copy of the same 3.x RegCode.

We are now about 3 months behind on updating our Website scripts/database for our software Registration. When done, it will provide these changes.

1. Any Hoster RegCode can install any Hoster version. Your 2.0 RegCode will be able to install 4.11.

2. To install any later version than you have installed already, will require you to have purchased the Product Upgrade within the past 12 months. That's the only restriction on whether you can upgrade or not.

3. You will not get a new RegCode with the Upgrade any longer. You will use your existing RegCode you got when you bought the Product FULL version initially.

4. You will be able to re-install the last version you now have installed, regardless how far back you bought your last Upgrade. This insures you can re-install what you are now running.

Be sure and get 4.11 installed before we cut this new script/database live... which will be any day now, Lord willing!

Thanks Admin, i did upgrade to 4.11 last evening. It went smooth as clock work. Thats great news about the regcodes, it will sure clear up alot of confusion for some of the fella's. And they won't have to keep pestering you for a regcode. Great news.

I will keep 4.11, and maybe two priors. That should keep me safe for future upgrades. Thanks again for the advice, and the strides mtu is taking to make future upgrades easier, and product improvements more readily available and downloaded smoothly.
