It is amazing that no one else has ran into this problem. This is every Star Disc after they changed their front page by replacing the STAR in their name with an A.

I have several computers & this COMPAQ Is the only one that has this problem. I am guessing that it may be the video card because I have uninstalled everything it doesn't need to run.

Does anyone else have a NVIDIS GeForce 8200M G Video card in a Laptop?

I am about ready to just sell this laptop & start over...Wayne

Problem Resolved

I searched this forum for using looking for NVIDIA 8200 & found a post from July for a similar problem (although his problem was sporatic - I figured out exactly which disks were causing mine).

He went to NVIDIA's site & downloaded an upgraded driver (which I never thought of since I thought it was a new Laptop). The new driver appears to have solved my problem....Wayne

Wayne, I'm glad you found the solution.

It is amazing that time after time, we all think "upgrading" the computer FROM MICROSOFT will bring it up to full upgrade level.

NOT SO!

We were discussing this very point about drivers in meeting at MTU this morning. Why can't Microsoft get their OS to a stable state for everyone to use? One of our Beta Testers just had an "Expert Installer" install Windows 7 on 2 computers ( a 32-bit and a 64-bit) and neither worked right. Gary had to solve it himself!

Never assume a "New" computer is up-to-date. This is unfortunately an assumption everyone makes. They are only good for the last updates they added to their installation disks. I just got a brand new Dell Vostro. I had 33 updates to do just from Microsoft. That doesn't count the ones from card manufacturers.
