4.11 upgrade

i didnt have any problem with 4.10, will 4.11 require more pc/laptop resources than 4.10 or it's just the same except for some minor changes ? the reason i asked was that i think most of our laptops are already maxout , and we might not be able to run Hoster future upgrades,if new features keeps coming up, and we might end up buying new laptops/pc's, do't get me wrong, i like those features..but most of us might end end using old versions..

This will only be a bug fix so no addition items.

4.11 is simply a fix for the issues some folks had when they ran their show with the "always on" box unchecked, as well as a couple other minor things.

The short answe is No. No new features.

I hear ya. Those of us who've been using Hoster forever and had top of the line computers at one time are now finding we are trying to get our dinosaurs to keep up. I just ordered 2gb of ram to replace my 1gb and have a more powerful graphics card I'm going to try as well.

Don't get me wrong, what I have well works with Hoster now but I can tell I'm getting closer to the edge.

Sam

Billyo,

It's seems that everybody wants new features ( Hoster User Requests ), but are not willing to invest the extra $$$ to get the computer ( Laptop or Desktop ) power to handle the future bells & whistles... If you remember, awhile back, I was pondering whether to go the re-furbished route in order to save a few bucks and get a usable backup laptop that would allow me to mainly test ( Beta Testing ) with, and see what direction that the new program features, as well as to wait out the initial OS Windows 7 problems and then invest in a newer laptop that would be a few steps ahead, when it comes to running Hoster with the addition of video, visualizations, photo slide shows, and other power hungry ( computer resources ) applications! Well, I jumped on a good deal, and went a little overboard ($$$) with a new HP laptop that should handle the Hoster of the near future, just fine. It was yours and Dale's recommendation that I heeded, when considering a used, refurbished, or new laptop purchase. I know that you are now doing this as a hobby, and only perform at private parties for friends, but I have added two new shows this month, making it a total of 5 nights a week... so the part time Karaoke that I used to do... has evolved into a full time business due to being laid off at my regular job in the Real Estate business, a couple of years ago... and Karaoke has always been more fun than contracts and escrows...

Long story short, as long as you don't wish to use all the features ( MTU allows you to choose whether to use or disable ) then so be it... Karaoke as a hobby is fun, and with all the gear that all of us have bought, sold, traded for in the past, another investment will make more sense, if financially, the Hoster user is in a position to be able to afford it... But from a business standpoint, it's important to stay one step ahead of your competition. The new features will help the mediocre host, and give the showman all the tools that we've been asking for, keeping us out in front of the fly by nights, that may or may not belong in the business...

I don't carry a tower and use a small LCD monitor. The case I have is a shuttle size short rectangular box. I got it at an electronics store in San Antonio. Then built the inside my self with a very fast motherboard and processor and 1GB ram (soon to be upgraded to 2GB), a very fast Video card, an MTU DVD drive, 2 large hard drives and top of the line sound card. The whole set-up cost be about half what one of those towers would have. This case has a handle on the front that makes it very easy to carry and the monitor, keyboard and mouse are in a plastic case. Two items for the whole system.

the reason why Dale and i suggested for you to get a new laptop/pc is for your own good, refurb. will only give you a few months warranty while a newer one will give you at least a year or maybe 3 years inc. free tech. support, as a matter of fact ,a while back in the new feature forum i have commented that " with all these future features people requested will make most of our laptops/pc's resources to the max. and someone said that as long as we do all the updates and upgrades there shouldn't be any problems, well updates won't make future Hosters upgrades ran better, from what i read, most laptops ram with xp can only be upgraded to 2g's, and thats the only thing i could think of that can be upgraded besides hhd's,and what you have now may not be enough when the future hoster upgrades comes out, as far as for me doing karaoke for a hobby, well that was my own choice, i could have gotten more work, but since the economy went down, i have decided to give all the offers i've been offered to friends of mine that does karaoke for a living, and needs it more than i do ,i have a good job working for the gov't for almost 30 yrs. now, and my wife is a surgical nurse, so if i wanted to buy a new laptop with all the bells and whistles i dont have to think twice about it, i have 4 pc'c and 4 laptops ( inc. the mini, which is what i used mainly for djing ), so for me i don't need all the new features, if i do just karaoke i used Hoster, if i have to just play music i bring my mini and used my dj programs..with all the money i have invested buying gears , i dont think i'll see my money back..like the saying goes if you wanted to play you gotta pay, and i'm still paying, still buying new gears and stuff
