new comp. with vista home premium

ok i know you guys are gonna tell me to read the posts but i read them and dont get whats all going on...so its best not to use vista? I just bought a hp laptop with vista home premium in it cuz my old comp took a poop. It is a athlon X2 duel core 3 GB memory ram, 2 G speed and has a nvidia 8200mg Now i change some of the setting like you guys said to but the lyrics are still lagging and the lyrics are not in sync and plus some the songs at the begining are sticking and just showing the title of the song and not moving on..wich is weird. Also i have an old version of microstudio 2.612 i tried to put on here also but keeps throwing an error even after you guys allowed me to put it on this comp. so i dont know what im doing wrong. I apologize if i come across uneducated on this stuff cuz im not and im pretty sure I mentioned that before lol anyways please help if you can. Im tempting to just put xp on here and call it good! the thing is they should make xp programs free for people who has bought vista since its messed up..well if you could message me back asap that would be great thank you!

Hey Rob,
Go to Tools > Options and you'll find a setting for Playback Offset. Work with that and see if it gets your lyrics in sync.

If all songs are out of sync by the same amount I would do as Jim suggested.

MS 2.612 came out well before Vista so it's entirely possible that it simply wont work with it

Exactly right. 2.612 will not run under Vista no way no how.

ya i got thinking that microstudio 2.612 wouldnt work with vista only with xp its an old version lol anyways i tried messing with the playback offset setting and it was a little better but i feel like not all the songs were the same plus there are songs that would just stay on the title page of the song and no lyrics would even show..but i will keep messing with it and report back ..thanks

I take it these are changes you found in the forums. You need to go to this link and do all of the items listed there.
http://www.mtu.com/upgrades/hoster/v...de-hoster4.htm

Then we can go from there to see what can be done.

What version were you using before?
Have you done the modifications I mentioned in Post #6?
There is probably a lot more that is going to need to be done but this is the best place to start.
As far as putting XP on the computer I would check with HP for a downgrade copy of XP so that it will have the correct drivers included for this laptop.

No you do not have to do a system restore. You can go to the hardware items (Control Panel/System) and roll back to the previous drivers.
If you go to HP for the request you may be able to get the XP for free or at least they used to.

Xp may run on this laptop ok, but that may not be the complete answer. Laptops for the most part use what is called "Shared" memory for Video memory. For video display this can cause a problem if there are too many background processes/programs running. The computer itself has the priority over the video so if too much is going on with the rest of the computer video is what suffers.
So even with XP a some background processes may have to be turned off to get the syncronization to work right. XP will be less demanding on the processor and will make getting it working easier than Vista though.

You can still get Dell laptops with XP instead of Vista and they are having a sale. Be sure to go to the Small Business section to get the XP option.

I just purchased a HP laptop from Tiger Direct that had a choice ( actually it came with XP & Vista Business ), you can guess which one I chose.

Probably more bells and whistles than I need, but I hate wanting, and don't have, instead of having and don't need...

FlyByRob,
I have a Dell with Vista and I have made all changes as required by MTU.

I have learned that the video changes MUST be made in NVidia control panel, NOT in windows display settings and AERO THEME must be OFF.

I also had problems until release 4.09d. Everything is running great for now

This is all I have for you for now. If you didn't do all change mentioned try them before putting XP on lappy. I tried that and everything worked except VIDEO OUT. XP could not support Video Card. (A friend also told me I could put XP on Dell XPS M1530)
