Just for fun !!

I have had a few issues with HOSTER using VISTA. But MTU has so far addressed all of them. In using release 4.09 that is running VERY stable I added a instabutton of a sound like something being 'cranked or wound up' and tell the folks at my shows (who have been very patient with some of the shut downs and audio drops) that Hoster added this feature to make Hoster run on Vista. I usually 'wind it up' at the beginning of my shows and 1/2 way through I say it need to 'wind up again'. People love it but the best part is, NO PROBLEMS with Hoster since I started doing that. Actually none of the problems were Hoster, All of them were Vista related.

Keep up the Great Work MTU. Looking forward to 4.10.

Creative genius?? I'll accept creative but not genius. More like a mind that is always running in overdrive (sometimes I scare myself) !!

But anyway I just wanted to share that with everyone. I know most of us (especially the ones running Vista) have had a few issues. But Hoster, Beta Testers, and Forum members have us covered with all the hard work they do.

THANK YOU !!

If I may. The creative side of what you do is the fact that you take a simple sound effect and use it to smooth over some of the glitches your audience has put up with as Hoster has developed into the awesome karaoke hosting (music backing track) program that it is. The gunius side of what you do is it represents how we should handle the bumps in life's road. Don't get upset, complain, or rant and rave about the bump, turn it into something fun. Our days are so much better filled with fun than filled with compaining and grief. Fun is what karaoke is all about IMHO. I absolutely love your idea and the way you use it. I especially love the halftime wind up to keep things running smooth. If this is not genius in action, it is a great "overdrive" residual.

Kudos!

Jim

HA HA HA HA HA! Madjim, I have read MANY of your post and understand fully that you run a show the way I hope mine run. Funny, creative, and at times a little crazy. But that is what make a Great Host. In your words 'Fun is what karaoke is all about'. A couple of other things I do is trivia questions (usually 1 a night) and a drawing of a number that coincides with singers name on rotation list (this one is for singers only) and the winners get a card that I made up good for a free drink compliments of J & K Karaoke. (yes, i put a limit on the price) One night when I had some of the issues with system I forgot and heard about it from the crowd (in a good way). Love this job.

I got a good laugh from your "crank it up". Will you post that sound effect if it is public? We may just include in as an Instabutton in 4.10.

As to playing an Instabutton having any affect on how Vista performs... well I'm a bit more hair-less from the scratching on that one. I think maybe there's something else at play. That insignificant event couldn't affect Vista.... could it?

Admin, how about we start a Sticky thread where everyone can post public (no copyright or royalties) Instabutton audio sound effects?

Admin, I would like to send 'crank it up' to you but I get this message when I try to attach it to this post:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

I downloaded this sound from 'free sound effect' website and then tweeked it to sound the way I wanted it to.
That should make it public. Let me know. Also, I am honored that you would like to add this to 4.10.

Audio files can not be attached in their normal format. You have to zip them to attach them.

I think this is a great idea. I work my shows with only two Instabuttons. I will be adding the "Wind It Up" which will make my Instabutton line up:

1. Normal applause
2. Large round of audience cheers
3. "Wind It Up"

NO BOO'S! I don't allow my audience members to boo a singer, even if it's their friend. Karaoke singers are not professionals, don't boo them!

I think it would be awesome if Hoster shipped with these three sound bites already set up as Instabuttons. What do you think guys?

Jim
