The only difference between the lite and the full version is the songbook creation and that it can only be installed on one computer. The rest is all the same, so see you can help her.
Is this a laptop or desktop type of computer?
Did she do all the steps in the XP setup before installing (link is in the manual if she didn't)?
Her best bet would be to join the Forums so we can ask her questions and give advice directly.

i' kinda fixed the hicups and out of sync problem on hoster lite on my friends laptop, and i also have the 3.4 installed, when i search a song on hoster lite, songs will come up, but when searching on 3.4 i get an error " no song matched, what you entered in the search for field, make new entry"..tried rebuilding the database , it went fine, then 0 entry, tried changing the path i got an error " hoster has to shut down" i did all the recommended changes and updates ( custom ) and also she has IE8 on it, wondering if that was the problem..

Billyo, I moved this to the thread you started on this problem. Dale

Did the Hosterlite come with the 3.4 or did you add it?
A couple of people have reported trying IE8 and had some problems with it, so until MTU has a chance to try it with Hoster I would recommend backing down to IE7. I don't know if that would effect the database or not but I wouldn't think so.
It sounds like Vista is hiding the songs from 3.4. What is the location of the KMA files?
Also make sure that the KMA files are not Read Only. If they are then 4.08 will work but 3.4 won't.

it came with hosterlite, and i did a shortcut on the desktop, kma files are on ext. drive, she has xp, i tried adding a song on 3.4 ( as a singers disc), and it played, hosterlite 4.8 all the songs came up, but wont show up on 3.4, i thought it would...still trying to figure this out ( work on this till 3am and i'm trying to get it done for they have a show tonight ) ( FYI: i'm not getting paid for this the husband helps me set up on big venues)

They both use the same Songs database. Have you tried rebuilding in the Hosterlite?
Open the 3.4 and go to rebuild, look at the path on the bottom of the box. Is it C:\MTU\Hoster? Check the one in the 4.08 and see if it is the same.

in 3.4 its in c:\mtu\hoster ,and in 4.08 its in c:\mtu\hosterlite\songs.mdb
i rebuilt the hosterlite "o"entry ,( i opened up the ext. hhd to make sure she has some songs in it & she doesnt have a lot of songs in the hhd yet), i guessed she got frustrated when she had all the out of sync and hicups problems

Check to make sure the C:\MTU\Hoster folder exists. If not then you will need to create it so 3.4 can create its database. I will let MTU know about this discrepancy as they should both be using the same database. In the full version it does.
Make sure the KMA files on the external are not read only or hidden and that the user has full control of the folder.

had to rebuilt both ( 3.4 & 4.08 ) songdata base , i think this is only way you can sync 3.4 and hosterlite, i didnt do this on my full version of hoster

Hey Billy,
In Hoster 4.08 full there is no c:\mtu\hosterlite\ folder created so you won't see this issue. Dale has reported this to MTU and they will get it fixed. As you just found out, it's not hard to work around.

Now that you have both Hosterlite and 3.40 working off of the files in the same folder, clear the songlist, create a new one and all should be fine. Odds are that playlist was made before you pointed both programs to the same folder.

Jim

been working on this since last night till 3am and started working on it again this morning when i got up, i finally got it fixed half hour ago..yes i did that cleared the songlist, created a new one and it's working fine..i dont have the 4.08 version of hoster ( still got 4.06 the reason being was that i like the feature of seeing both video when playing a vcd) so i'm not sure if c:\mtu\hosterlite is supposed to be there, i didnt even know if 3.4 was supposed to be in hosterlite either, just took a chance to see if it was ..but anyway thanks for the info..

3.40 works the same way with 4.08 as it does in 4.06. The c:\mtu\hosterlite folder was created by Hosterlite. This is why you never saw it before.

Good work getting your friend up and running Billy, as always you are appreciated!
