Only other place I can think of would be Drivers.com. Be sure to have what models your video and audio cards are handy, so you can look them up.

I've upgraded all my laptops (5) to 4.08, I also finally converted my HP laptop from VISTA to XP (I'm VISTA free).

All five of these laptops meet all the checklist requirements, they have all the (non hardware) custom updates.

The gateway laptop that I was having a problem with the first song loading slow and the non responsive crashing problem I added RAM from 512m to 2 Gig and still have those problems (I thought the RAM increase would fix the problem I was wrong).

The HP that I just converted from VISTA to XP. (4.03 in VISTA was working fine) (but the 4.08 in XP has been really quirky). At it's first show it lasted 20 minutes of everything working fine and the host had to go to 3.4 to finish the show the music and lyrics were out of sync. In testing at home it worked fine for 2 hours before having out of sync problems. I have mostly Soundchoice songs and there is no out of sync problem with the Sound Choice, the out of synce problem once it starts seems to be only with DKKaraoke music.

The other 3 laptops are working fine now.

I wish someone would have told me not to buy VISTA before I did. Unless you know exactly what you are doing it's probably not wise to convert VISTA to XP. I also would not suggest someone to do it unless I was planning on helping them make sure the make shift drivers they are loading will work with their machine and Hoster. It's easy to say convert if you're not the one doing it.

I know once I've rectified all my problems I'll be glad I made the conversion.

I hope someone can help me especially with the HP. The gateway problem is more of a nuisance then a major problem.

Stu,
Have you checked for driver updates from the manufacturers site? Get the video card driver updates and see if that helps. Make sure you are not using vista drivers.

I don't know if you have ever converted a Vista machine to XP, but there are no XP drivers made by the manufacturer for a computer that is originally VISTA. I think Microsoft made sure of that. It's a painstaking trial and error process.

I have never did the process myself I had someone do it for me. Is there a Video driver or some other driver available that is better suited to meet my needs for Hoster?, I'm sure of it and I'm hoping someone can tell me where to go to find that driver(s).

Thanks for your help

it has nothing to do with microsoft. your drivers would be for your hardware, and i dont know of any companys that only support vista.

I wish it was a simple as everyone seems to think it is. Load an XP disc and then go to the manufacturer website and download the drivers. If someone has done this with Compaq Presario please step me through it. If it was that easy what a wonderful world it would be for me!!

For your Compaq Presario go to:

http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/...isplay=drivers

For your Gateway go here:

http://support.gateway.com/support/d...p?cmpid=topnav

Just click on the links above, don't cut and paste them to a browser.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for a quick response. I was wrong about both computers, I've been working on this HP all night with no sleep to try to get it into sync for this week, I'm just a bit confused.

HP dv2515hr (converted from Vista to XP)

Fujitsu not in front of it right now don't remember the model number for the PC that keeps crashing.

The link I gave you for the Compaqu is for HP. (I got confused ) Use it to get the drivers for your dv2515hr.

For your Fugistu go here:

I'm not trying to be a problem here, I sincerely need a resolution to my problem.

I went to the HP site for my computer
it required my product number gs846ua#aba
dv2615hr series

If you put in Vista it has every driver that you could need every one.
If you put in XP it has some software updates but absolutely no drivers (0), check it out for yourself

I can't say for sure that this is a microsoft decision that was just speculation, but I do know the same thing was true for the Compaq and the Gateway I had converted before.

On the HP Software & Driver page there is a button that says "Start Detection". Just click on this button. I have to get off of this computer to do some work. I'll check back with you later today.

What are you doing when it crashes? The more specific you can get the easier to figure it out.
The slow start at the first I have a feeling is the computer has to get the "shared" memory setup when you start playing the first song because the video doesn't have enough dedicated memory. I don't think there is much you can do about that one.

Did your host play a DK song at the 20 minute mark causing the out of sync at that point in time?
Do DK songs always show out of sync? If you play one first does it play in sync or out of sync?
What I am thinking is HEAT is causing this. Do you use a cooling pad with your laptops? Have the laptops ever been cleaned internally?
DK Karaoke has always been a problem with the sync to some degree because the way they do their graphics is different from everybody else. MTU has tweaked this several times for those because of that.

DK's Ii

I am having the same problem with DK's not my Millennuim edition, but the edit-a-vison set. I also have found that I can't download a singers disk while someone is singing or it puts everything out of sync and music skips every song after that. If I restart Hoster then everything is back to normal. Running Vista with 3gig ram. Toshiba laptop.

Hey Bonnie,
What version of Hoster are you running? Have you made all of the suggested changes for Vista? Have you updated your video drivers from the manufaturers site? Do you have all of the windows custom updates? I advise you do not get any harware updates from windows updates, get them from the manufacturers site.

Hi
For the Fujitsu when it crashes it's one of those not responding thingies, I just allow it to close Hoster and restart it and I'm off to the races, unless someone is singing at the time of the crash it's not even noticeable. It also happens so infrequently that's it's not that big of a deal.
