Been using Norton Ghost 2003 ever since 2003 and have been completely satisfied.

From what I've been seeing lately though, they have become a nightmare to work with. If I ever need to change, Acronis here I come..

The main purpose of this post is to advise anyone doing it, that uninstalling any Norton product, does not do a completle uninstall of the product by a darn sight. There are more files left in the registry than one would imagine.

It's so bad Norton offers Norton removal software...go figure

Peter Norton used to be my hero back in the DOS days. Not so much anymore.

it has never not worked for me.

your right jim, its "copy drive" now not clone.

are you using a USB external drive to copy to ?

if so there are some advanced options for USB while your going through the wizard.

Yes, I tried it and The Wizard locked up on me and I had to manually shut it down. Then when I restarted my computer windows would not load. I had to reset my bios to get windows back.

It seems when I the set the drive active in one of these programs, they make the second drive the main drive which is not what I want to do.

do you have an extra, external drive or enough space on your c: drive to make a back up instead of "copy drive" ???

if so try the "back up my computer" option, pick a folder in your c: drive to store the info on, then let it back up.

then go to restore option, pick the backed up file and restore it to your new drive.

this is all if you want to test

I should be able make a bootable copy of my C:\ drive once a week with no extra steps, that's one of the features that Norton said Ghost will do. My extensive testing shows that Ghost does not provide this feature. I've spent too much time on this as it is. I'm through with Norton Ghost. I'll put my efforts into Acronis since it works for everybody.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Jim

I installed the Migrate Easy demo. If I use the automatic clone feature it says I will have to remove the old hard drive when the data moving is complete. Does this means everytime I make a copy of my C:\ drive, I have to run off of the second drive and disconect the first drive? Do I have to go back and forth switching drives eveytime I add new songs and want to do a backup?

I was under the impression that if my hard drive failed all I had to do was restart my computer and the second drive would take over. I don't mind disconnecting a drive and leaving it in the computer for backup but this method will require me to open the computer which I though I could avoid.

After running shows with this computer for over four years now I feel it's time to get a tested, working backup system in place since hard drives do not last forever. I would appreciate it if somebody who uses Migrate Easy would explain the process they use.

Thanks

Jim

I want to be set up where if my C:\ drive fails at a show I can restart the computer and the second drive will take over. How do I do this with Ghost (or Migrate Easy)?
