what about satellite internet, i would pay anything not to have dial up !

plus you could take your laptop to most places in any large town and get free WIFI internet.

Michelle you said you bought the laptop from MTU pre installed, so whats to install ? you should just be importing music.

i live on a new development and the only thing could get was direct tv and bellsouth tel. dsl connection, from what i heard from people who had sattellite internet connection and also based on my tv reception, you can only get a good connection when the weather is clear, when it rains my tv reception goes out of whack, i got high speed cable now and all my comps. ( 7 total ) are connected to a home network and , some get a faster connections than others..

I think I've figured it out..how it's supposed to be done. And even where to store the music to bring it up during the shows ...>HOWEVER.....my computer program is now not working like it should and I'm getting an error message. I can't even type in the disk type as it says I have an error ....so I have no choice but to wait for MTU to contact me.

Thank you to everyone who took some time out of their day to help me out.
much appreciated.....When it's fixed I'll let you know what was wrong.

Michelle

Michelle,
Go to the Support area of their web page and download (save) the version 4.06 that you have installed. I know at dial-up speed it will take some time to do it. After it downloads run the setup program and re-install it over what is already there. That should fix the program problems.

Ok....I can do that....Can I save it to a disk from my regular computer....and then put it on the one I have from MTU? OR can I install (which I am thinking yeah why not...) aol on the MTU computer and then just hook up from that? ....but to have a disk already made for a situation like this would be best.

THANKS!!

you can save the file to your hard drive or to a cd.

if you do it on another computer then just burn a copy to a cd and put it in your cd-rom, then pop it in the laptop and drag and drop the file to the laptop.

do you know how to drag and drop files ?

I know your expecting a 'no' ....but I have to say I can do that much. I'm not that bad....and I think I originally was downloading the cd's correctly (stopping at 2) ...as I didn't have a clue what to do to store them---well I knew I had to ---but I didn't know what file or type of file.....

You know when your on the computer and someone sent you something --your computer isn't reading it and 'you have to personally go thru and see what file you need to open the document in--then none of the ones you try work and there are about 3 dozen--That is how I felt. .....

I'm in a happier place right now. My truck is working.....it was of all things 'the battery'. and I was looking to really buy a 'new' vehicle...quickly.

And yes you can put AOL on your MTU computer too. In fact that wouldn't be a bad idea as you will need to be able to keep up with Microsoft as well as MTU updates.

Unhappy

Hi,

well....I downloaded the hoster 4.6 files...made a copy to my disk and also have it on my desktop. I tried to load it....usually it would start to read something as soon as you put it in the drive...it didn't soooo, I went in to the run program and brought it up the hard way....
well....it won't work.

It says....

Setup.exe
Setup.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvienience.

PLEASE TELL MICROSOFT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM...

just yet another setback I suppose.
