Have you tried testing without importing while playing to see if it happens?
I got to ask....done all the updates from Microsoft? Have you updated the firmware on that Plextor 716 lately? I had one of those and have used it for about 3 years, then one day it decided to no longer read discs...good thing I have another drive.
